so, whenever someone whines about ergonomics, they do it mostly out of ignorance or theyre trying to sell themselves on something else
There's also a third possibility you forgot to mention.
AK ergonomics SUCK.

I understand that you like your AK.
I understand that with some prople there's a certain amount of "buy in" with whatever weapon they own.
I understand about people consciously or unconsciously feeling the need to justify their choices to themselves and others.

But saying that people are ignorant because they don't think AK's have good ergonomics is childish in the extreme.

As I said in an earlier post, I like AK's and own several.

But they're just tools.

I appreciate them for what they are, rugged, reliable and as close to maintenance free as a semi automatic rifle can be.

But the AK design is simply not as ergonomic as many modern rifles.

There are techniques that if used properly, will help a shooter adapt themselves to the weapon and overcome some of the disadvantages inherent to the design.

But that's not what ergonomics are all about.

They're about the weapon fitting you, not you fitting yourself to the weapon.

has to do with the AR crowd being lead, quite often through manufacturers and parts/accessory suppliers that certain features HAVE to exist on a rifle..

Are Izhmash and the Russian army being led around by AR manufacturers and parts/accessory suppliers too?

Or are they just ignorant of the proper way to run an AK?

I ask because the new AK-12 being adopted by elite units of the Russian army has the cocking handle, safety lever and fire selector all redesigned and moved to new positions.

Apparently THEY think AK ergonomics suck too.
