confusion
I just purchased a uberti 1860 revolver this am!! Should be here tuesday at the latest and plan on posting some shots when it comes in. I looked at several models and settled on the 1860 design, just seems more practical and better quality to shoot. As for the uberti vs pietta I did not like the pietta look at all and went with eye appeal in this case. Something about color case hardening I think :)

Lets see here...

When I arrived home today there was this long box sticking out of the BACK end of the mailbox, I was asking *** is that long box?? Then I saw midway USA on the label. I was suppose to be here tomorrow but I have no complaints about that at all!!!

Something about that deep blue next to the color case hardened steel is just pure sexy. The look, smoothness and feel of this piece is just outstanding quality and better than what I was expecting.

I actually do not like revolvers that much and have been looking for something with good eye appeal to it and I do believe I have found one.

BlackNet, those are some great photos of your 1860. They give an excellent view of the pistol from all angles, and really show off the Uberti quality. They make an already sexy pistol look even better!

Uberti, thats as good as it get some claim that their is better and that may be true may be not but its a good solid hunter

bought some treso nipples, 11-50-166, use #11 caps.

Once they are tightened up there is not a clearance problem at all. the spent caps seem to fall off as the cylinder rotates.

Will gun prices come down?

Concidering what fuel prices did to large gas engine and diesel vehicles the last couple of years, the auto companys were almost giving these large cars away. Now that it is so hard to walk into a store and buy a gun and walk out with a couple hundred rounds of ammo do you think that gun prices will drop. Yesterday I went into our local sports store only to see 8 handguns instead of the usual 100 and not one single bullet. Something has to give.

OK, newbie question time.....

So what and why are the big screw heads sticking up from the sides just above the trigger? The look like they are meant to be taken out often but do they need to stick out like a boil on a fashion models forehead! ? ! ? ! ? !

They're the pivot point and lower mounting for the shoulder stock, only present on the "military" version of the pistol.

Most people don't mind them but they're in exactly the spot my trigger finger rests...I can't stand them, so my 1860 (and 3rd Dragoon) are civilian versions.

Blacknet Congrads, a good lookin' Uberti 1860...please post how it shoots, groups and behaves...I haven't had a Uberti 1860 jus' Pietta, ASM, & Belgian Centaures. Ya never see many used Ubertis for sale.

As regards the shoulder stock screws, those on my Pietta seem to be much flatter, and a little more rounded, than those in the pics. I burnished the small burrs off, that were around the screw slot, reblued, and now they do not bother my trigger finger.
