22 Mag ammo is not cheap relative to 22LR. Few plink with a 22 Mag unless you have money to burn.

22lr is by far my favorite cartridge. I shoot with a silencer (TAC-65) using Eley Tenex Pistol ammunition (the best made). My host firearm is a TC G2 Contender pistol with a 10.5 in barrel. It's a shooter out to 300 yards.

.22 Longs can be had.
Gander mountain has them in CCI 100 rd packs.
I have one pistol thet accually takes 22LONG ONLY.

Remember Ughh Google is your friend. www.google.com
Take a gun safety course too before you shoot the first time. Think Safety.

WMR is what, about 2x or 3x more than 22LR?

Still much cheaper than the cheapest 9MikeMike huh?

If that is the way you feel, blast away with a rifle or handgun chambered for it. It's your money. You can plink with anything.

My Henry 001 Lever-action takes shorts, longs and long rifles. The longs probably don't have any special advantages, but a local store sold me a CCI hundred-pack of .22 shorts that some shoplifter had taken a few rounds out of. I got a good deal due to damaged packaging. I found the shorts good for 25-30 foot close range target practice. During the "Great Ammo Shortage of 2008-2009 it was good to have a rifle that fired shorts because a lot of the stores still had them on the shelves when the .22LR was not to be found.
