I am in an engineering fraternity, Theta Tau, and my chapter regularly does Professional Development activities (plant tours, teaching basics of a facet of our profession, some tidbit of knowledge we have, etc) and besides computers, one of the things I knew about and could teach in a 15min time frame was firearms.
Info Packet I passed around
I used the above packet (its a word doc) and used my 10mm Witness, my dad's single-shot .22, and my pump shotgun to educate about 10 people on proper handling techniques, safety, rules, etc. as well as the different types of ammo (SP, HP, rimfire, shotshell, etc). I let them all handle them, telling them to check the mag and chamber when they recieve it, and to hand the firearm off chamber open or bolt open. Almost all of them kept good muzzle discipline (very good for first timers) and learned something. I also touched on the Senate's actions today, and breifly explained the plethora of laws. All in all, I considered it a success because I got questions asked of me, and even "Damn. Thats stupid, why would they need to legislate that, its just common sense." in response to the Liability bill.
So, how did I do?
Edited to add: We have a house that is off campus (but right accross from a girls dorm ), so I wasnt violating any gun laws when I did that.
