Was glancing at "The Complete Idiot's Guide to the American Government" while in a book store the other day. I went to the Bill of Rights and read the section on Ammendment #2 and to paraphrase it said:

"...while Gun Control supporters believe in a strict interpretation of the Ammendment and that only the National Guard is allowed to have guns."

So apparently complete idiots are reading this and thinking that is the strict and intended interpretation of the 2nd Ammendment. This explains a lot for me.

I'd be curious to know what came before the "..." in the quote above. If they were simply giving both sides of the issue, then fine. If it was obviously slanted to the antigun POV, then a pox on them.

Justin, I've seen things like that before, so I'd guess it says something like "Opponents of gun control say it violates the Second Amendment, while gun control supporters...". Basically they try to present a "balanced" look that somehow manages to be biased. (I think any "strict interpretation" is going to be against gun control because of the "right of the people... shall not be infringed" part. )

Triad nailed it. Couldn't quite remember the opening, but it was basically saying Pro 2A folk just have a belief while Gun Control people have the legal interpretation on their side.

Idiot logic: The Second Amendment, ratified in 1791, refers to the National Guard, which was created 112 years later in 1903.

Riiiiiiiiight.:fire:
