I Finally Bought a P32

Kel-Tec modified the trigger/ear/whatever in gen 2 guns as far as I know. Ruger copied the gen 2 so they don't have that problem, but Taurus copied the gen 1. Anyone know if Kel-Tec will update an older P32?

You can put gen2 Kel-Tec parts in a TCP to fix it too.

They really can't without replacing it with a whole new gun.

The frame & slide are completely different.

The major parts are not interchangeable.

"I don't intend to use this for SD. It is just a range toy and plinker."

Uh, this is 0% 'range toy" and 100% SD. This might be the ultimate "throw it in your pocket as you head out the door" SD. FMJ all the way....they seem to tumble 100% in gelatin anyway and they feed the best. In this application I like .32acp vs .380 for the latters recoil in such a small, light gun.

Ah..so!:) Didn't know they'd changed that...and never felt that it was a 'defect' like it seems so many apparently believe it is. It is just a 'feature' that requires adherence to operation and is there for a decently good reason. If you have fired a double-action revolver it's much the same...requiring a full trigger release to get to the next shot.

So...I guess I need to go searching for how the V2 KT trigger works...unless someone would be so kind as to explain it here so the thought finishes in the thread for searching later. It would either have to fully cock the hammer to then be released by the trigger, or not cock it at all so that first reset click would be missing which then would force you to fully release the trigger. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Edit: Well...that took a while to find! Here is the information on the new hammer block: http://www.keltecforum.com/forum/p-32/6291-p-32-parts-update-guide.html

Basically the trigger will still drop from the pre-cocked position if you don't release it fully forward, but the new design will allow you to cock and fire the gun with just a trigger pull and not require pulling the slide back 1/8-1/4" to reset the hammer. So I see this as a non-issue. For the gun to fire reliably you still need to fully release the trigger between shots and I guess whether you have second strike capability or must TRB is a personal choice. Also, from my reading...I'm not so sure the Ruger LCP is any different in operation than the older KelTec...but it's hard to say what they're putting out today. Either way, with proper training even the old P-32 & P3AT are reliable weapons for most people.
