Have you?

Today, I got off my butt, and wrote to my 2 Senators and Representative about letting the Semi-Auto ban sunset. I know we all talk about taking action, but I wonder how many of you other 2nd Amendment supporters have taken action. My bet is that 85% of you that read this will not take the time to make a simple phone call or write your congressmen. Prove me wrong please. Take the 15 min to write or call. Tales of the Gun will be on The History Channel some other time.

:banghead:

Done did it. Unfortunatly the IL congress critters that are in position to help dump this law, are looser antis. Daley puppets.
Well, I told 'em anyway.

AS A MINIMUM....

As a minimum you should all avail yourselves of the following resource:

http://www.capwiz.com/nra/home/

That will allow you to write an e-mail message to your political critters.

This should be the BARE minimum you do. It's better to follow up with real mail, and a telephone call and then get your friends and family to do the same, BUT if you wont help in any other way at all please at least take a moment NOW to use http://www.capwiz.com/nra/home/

Can't say I'm going to bother writing my Senator, Diane Feinstein, as she is the one SPONSORING the new AWB bill.

Everytime I've writter her in the past I've gotten the same damn form letter:

"Thank you very much for contacting me with your concerns. Your opinion is valuable to me. If there is anything I can do for you in the future..." yada, yada.

Right:banghead:

I hear ya Jimbo!

I get Boxer, Feinstein And Eshoo

I must admit that since I KNOW there is NO chance (I mean zero not 1 percent nothing) from these three "ladies" that I only wrote the president (reminded him of his narrow victory over Gore and that this issue is a litmus test.

Still even if your congress droid has a D rating on Gun issues at least TRY. If they are avowed sponsors like Northern CCCPalifornia - well I guess we can understand not wasting the electrons.

I am also in the grip of the gun-grabbing congresscritters. However, I wrote them all two months ago and just e-mailed them last week. I also wrote Bush and e-mailed him. I tried to call but the damn Eastern time zone screws me up. I'll have to try again during lunch or something.

I feel like there is some momentum growing here. Let's put it to work and put the pressure on our "representatives".

My letter..

I am currently in Taiwan, but I am part of your district. I would just like to say that, as people like Feinstein and Boxer continue to make sure California is on the fasttrack to becoming like China as far as draconian laws; I hope you will do something to differentiate yourself and vote for the sunsetting of the AWB (Assault Weapons Ban).

The fact that there has been no deaths by a bayonet outside of war, means these and stupid little comsmetic differences listed in the ban are nothing but unsubstanciated FUD used to give people who don't want to actually stop crime, the warm fuzzies.

A bullet out of a rifle has the same velocity, regardless if the bullet was loaded in a fixed magazine or a detachable magazine. So legislation against one is arbitrary and stupid.

I can own a million 10-round magazines, but an 11-round magazine will land me in jail. That concept is SOOO stupid it's not even worth my breath to address it.

If you have ever gone camping, you would be familiar with the motto "Leave it cleaner than you found it". If politicians would adopt the same motto, or more appropriately, "Leave it freer than you found it" instead of seeking to enslave the American people with laws, laws, laws, and more laws, (That never get enforced, that criminals don't follow, that's why they are called criminals) America would be a great place, a place the founding fathers had intended it to be.

You took an oath to uphold the Constitution when you were sworn in; I know it's a crazy concept, but part of the Constitution is the 2nd Amendment, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. You swore to uphold it, now DO YOUR JOB.

Ever since I turned 17 I've been writing on a monthly and sometimes weekly basis, whenever possible. Through e-mail, and the written letter. I've always got a canned, prewritten response from Boxer and Feinstein about how gun control saves lives etc, etc. The only thing that ever changes in their letters are the dates. If everyone in California were against their position (yea, I wish) they'd be singing a different tune.

Gun control supporters make me want to beat my head against the wall in frustration when I hear some of the stupid reasons they give.:banghead:

I don't even get replies from my 2 RINO Senators, DeWine & Voinovich.

While I don't always agree with him, my Rep, Steve LaTourette, does reply, and we are USUALLY very close on issues.

So, I keep stirring the pot with all my legis-sneakers, and reminding them that "Little Brother" is watching "Big Brother".

Letters

I've contacted my rep, my senators (Breaux and Landrieu), AND have written a letter to the editor of the Lake Charles, LA newspaper.

Both of my previous letters were published so I'm hopeful that this one will be as well.

Thanks 1

I feel better. I also got a shot in on my state legislatures and the governor (they are probably getting tired of hearing from me on the CCW issue in Missouri). I took another shot at the Democrats that will be running statewide for re-election with our milktoast governor. How much of a chance do they think they have if the governor throws away the thousands of pro-gun voters in the state?

Yesterday I sent letters to my 2 senators, my representative, the President, Sen. Bill Frist, and Tom DeLay.

Today, just for good measure, I sent faxes to the Washington offices of my representative, Dennis Hastert, and the President.

And because I was feeling particularly activist, today I also e-mailed the President and my representative.
:cuss:

Today I called my congresmans office and told him I was upset he cosponsored the new AWB expansion bill. I also called MO gov Holdens office and said that a CCW law would make me more likely to visit MO in the future.

Done.
If you haven't done it, awbansunset.com has a link that will give you the names and addresses of your representatives, and even sample letters that you can cut and paste.

Come on guys, gentle pressure, relentlessly applied.

I recently e-mailed my rep Jim Moran (yes, Mr. I-Hate-Jewish-People himself), about a bill regarding making CCW reciprocate across all states that have CCW laws.

This is like the five billionth time I've written him.

The point is, this time, out of the blue, I got a letter in the mail, that was ::gasp!:: tailored to the letter I had written, well-argued, response! He explained the bill as he saw it and cited his concerns with it, and politely explained why he was not going to support it (no big surprise).

Still, though, I've received few letters that responded so well.

Just goes to show you that sometimes someone does read 'em.

(side note: his main argument was that some states have virtually no training requirements before obtaining a permit. actually not a half bad point. i don't totally agree with it, and think it's workable, but not half bad.)

I haven't been here long enough to know how CongressCritters stand, so I'll definately be writing them.
