Yesterday, after years of keeping my Beretta M9 Special Edition in the safe, untouched, unmolested... I finally took it out and ran some rounds through it. The reason for this is that I had to liquidate most of my gun collection, and my two other Berettas had to go. I now own only two 9mm's, the M9 and a Kahr P9. I anguished over shooting it, but now that I only have a few guns I can't justify leaving one unfired anymore, especially when it's the only one of its kind I still have. So anyway, off to the range, with 100 rounds of ball ammo. She shoots just fine, with a smooth trigger and decent accuracy. But now I have to anguish over whether I stop at that, or actually shoot the crapola out of it like I did with one of the others. At the time it was such a nice feeling to be able to shoot a gun as much as I wanted, and not care about finish wear or broken parts. But now that I'm down to one I can't bear to make the choice. :(

Don't feel badly ...

I finally tired of looking at the beautiful, unfired Colt Commemorative WWII 1911 pistol in the box one day, and promptly took it out to the range and fired it. Nice shooter. I'd have regretted not having ever fired it if it had remained unfired when it came my time to die ...

It's just a handgun, anyway ... ;)

Sorry for your woes... :(

Guns are made to be shot ... and it's too late now, anyway. Enjoy the snot out of it!

Wasn't it test fired at the factory. If so then its been fired and you didn't get a virgin. Don't worry about it. That's what they make guns for to shoot:D

I agree, guns are made to be shot. Besides it`s just a Beretta 92. If it were a Gabbet/Fairfax Mars automatic or something super obscure I could maybe see not shooting it. Maybe you can inspire Peter Eich to shoot that pristine unfired Pasedena .44 Auto Mag that`s sitting in his safe! Marcus

Good for you. Of course never having had the money to afford safe queens maybe I have a different outlook than others. It would drive me nuts knowing I had a gun that couldn't be fired. If that sucker can't be fired I personally will sell it and buy something I can enjoy. To me guns are made to be shot. I drool when I see some of the posts on this and other forums with pics of stacks of guns just sitting in a safe.:(

I've safe queens that have that status because I don't really enjoy shooting them. But I'd never have bought them if I didn't want to shoot them and put 'em thru their paces. Always looking for the mystical "better" grows the collection :)

Thanks for the comments, but I'm still a bit nervous about putting any more wear on it. Maybe if I can find a used 92FS for cheap I can beat the crap out of that instead. Good to know it shoots well, though.

It's good to hear that more & more are coaxing their pistols out of retirement. From my observations being on the range a few choice times a week, very little action in my community of 175,000 & earshot of another 500,000; other that LEO's having mandatory training every so often. When I read these posts about firing astronomical-thousands of rds through their guns w/o a jam, ad nauseam.: I just laugh at all the BS. Yeah, I know I'm generalizing, but I bet I'm not too far off...Like friends of mine, they have the time to fire & $ to spend on ammo: but have all the damn excuses..
If I'm not shooting any of my firearms on a regular basis, they become trade or sale bait at the next gun show or pawnshop. The next ONE is the great adventure....

I have the same gun, they are common and easy to come buy. Not likely to have any real worth in our lifetime. So have fun and shoot the crap out of it.
I always see these idiots on gunbroker selling those things for 8-900 dollars, and nobody ever bids on those things. I bought mine at my local gun store brand new for 500 bucks. Plain and simple there is no difference between a 92FS and an M9 other than the M9 lacking three dot sights (which is stupid anyway). As long as the 92s are easy to come by the M9 limited edition is just an excuse to charge a few more dollars for it.

If you are looking for a safe-queen beretta go for the Billienium or a steel, something along those lines
