Title says it all. I have wanted a P238 ever since I shot my LCP for the first time last year. I never have been happy with the LCP, its not a fun gun to shoot, and its never been trustworthy. Even after an extensive Fluff and Buff it will always have at least one malfunction when shooting it at the range. Every one says the Sig P238 is a great pistol, so I have wanted one. I finally decided I was going to sell my LCP(I actually have 2)and get the Sig. Life is too short to shoot unreliable guns. I was looking at one of the sale flyers that one of the larger gun shops had in my local newspaper, and they showed the 238 with the Sig Trigger guard laser for $479. I went this morning, and sure enough, they had them in stock at that price. Its the Two-Toned pistol, with laser, extended magazine, and Houge one piece, Sig branded, wrap around grip. I cant believe they are selling that model, at that price. Now to get to the range... maybe tomorrow.

That is a totally cool little sig! What a great price you got, too! What's the trigger like, and what are the sights like?

It's a great price for a nice gun. Do yourself a favor and grease the rails and the barrel hood with the TW25 stuff that is in the case wtih the gun. Micro Sigs like to run wet, especially when new.

Sounds like you got a great deal on your P-238. A couple of years ago I picked one up that had the laser, SIG night sights, and rosewood grips for about the same price as yours. Enjoy!

I was able to make the range today. Temps in the 40s, gray, but calm winds. I shot over 400 rounds thru my 238 and am very satisfied. The comments about its quality, and reliability are correct. This little pistol is a joy to handle, and shoot. Its like having a tiny target pistol. Its simply the most accurate mousegun I have ever shot. If you want to get the tightest groups, and do your part, its capable of "one ragged hole" groups at 7 yards. I was just messing around, letting the bullets fly, and I was able to easily get all shots on a 3x3" Post-It note at 7 yards.

I shot 200 Blazer aluminum case, 100 Blazer brass, 100 Federal Champion, 25 Hornady Critical Defense, and 25 Remington Golden Sabers without any issues of any kind. Perfect. About half way thru, I realized... Hey, Im not hating this. I would never be able to get thru more than a couple magazines with my LCP before thinking that I wasnt having any fun. The 238 is the softest shooting .380 I have ever fired. It has less recoil than my Bersa Thunder 380, and isnt even close to the LCP.

My 238 came with the 7 shot magazine, so that gives it an extra round over the LCP. The 238 also has a last round hold open, The LCP doesnt, and thats one of the things that I never liked about the LCP. Recoil feels like a full size 9mm. This gun would be a perfect recommendation for someone who is recoil sensitive. I also agree with comments that the slide is easy to rack, and thats a great thing for someone who doesnt have the hand strength to chamber a round into other handguns.

I had one small issue, the 238 wouldnt chamber Federal Hydra-Shok ammo. I tried twice to chamber a round from the magazine, but they would just nose into the feed ramp and jam.

If anyone is considering a 238, I highly recommend it. It runs perfectly right out of the box, and is a very high quality handgun.

One last comment, I bought a Baby Uplula for my smaller handgun magazines, and the mag loader really make loading pleasant. My hands were very cold today, and I had no trouble loading the mags.

You got a great deal there my friend. I have one exactly like yours. Have the regular flat bottomed mag and the extended one as shown on yours. I didn't get the laser. The P238 is a cool little mini-1911 SA with thumb safety. Comes with NS and is very accurate.

My daughter is out of state in college. Two years ago, her apartment was broken into here in Houston. Fortunately, she was not at home at the time. It kinda shook her up a bit. My daughter has always been levelheaded and thought about things like I do, so I took her down to my local gun shop and bought her an LCP .380. She liked the gun because it was small and fit her hand well. She had some difficulty racking the slide but as with all new guns it was stiff. Within 8 weeks she had enrolled and passed her CHL class and was carrying her "Lil Ruger" in her purse and at her nightstand.

Recently, she and her boyfriend have been going to an indoor shooting range in Phoenix to practice. The "Lil Ruger" is not a good practice range gun--it has quite the recoil and isn't comfortable to put 50 rounds downrange.

My plan is to swap her the Sig P238 when she comes home for Christmas.
She should have an easier time racking this slide, the Sig will be more reliable and more accurate in the 5-20yd. range if just from the SA trigger. She will have to get used to the thumb safety but she has shot my 1911s before without problem. I will probably end up selling the LCP.

awesome pricing. i picked up a SIG SAS 238 a few months ago and love it. i had the same problem with federal hydra shok. i shoot FMJ through it and can shoot a box of ammo and actually enjoy it. i dumped an LCP years ago because it was no fun to shoot and the sights were of no use to me for plinking. the SIG 238 is both a small gun good for carry and a fun gun for shooting tin cans. congrats on your purchase. i paid much more for mine.

Those sights are equal to night sights on my Glock. That gun has sights that are head & shoulders above what other tiny guns come with.
