I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to discover my mailbox stuffed with a big package and a nice little blue envelope. It took three weeks (less than I thought), but I got my C&R!

So, I spent part of today mailing off copies to everyone I might order from. Now I just have to wait a while for my letters to get there...

In case anyone is curious, the first C&R firearm I will get is a K31. After that, I don't know... I am thinking about an SKS, or maybe a CZ52, or perhaps a Mauser, or a Nagant revolver... :D

Sorry, I just had to share, it is exciting!

My first purchase was 3 SKS's from SOG.

Hell, today I ordered a Weaver Grand Slam 3X10X40 scope from Midway that was $230 my price and $319 for everyone else.

I've saved hundreds of $$ just at midway alone.

Still waiting for mine since July.:(

Congrats on yours though! Have fun aquiring new treasures.

ill, did you get the books yet? If so, you might want to give the ATF a call to see wazzup. thats what i did, then received it in a few weeks

If you have a C&R, is it just for convenience, or are you getting substantially better prices from the dealers? Kind of interested in this myself.

How long did it take for you to get the C&R (submit application till receiving it in the mail)

Enjoy the feeling of having your wallet/check book/bank account being lighter and lighter. :)

Nothing beats the joy of getting a big brown box delivered to your door, opening it up, and letting the cleaning begin.

i thought teh sks was not c&r eligible? i seen some dealers that require an 01ffl for them

ETXHiker...The C&R is for far more than a convenience. It allows direct sale of C&R eligible firearms to the holder avoiding the middleman 01 FFL holder. This saves a minimum of the transfer fee. Also, as mentioned above, many online vendors sell to C&R holders at dealer prices. These price differences vary but can be quite substantial. I've had my C&R for nearly 5 years. I've purchased a fair number of firearms with it and have saved substantially from what I'd have paid if I bought any other way. Now I use it more for the discounts on other firearm related items from Midway, Brownells, Numrich, and other online vendors. The other benefit is that those companies as well as SOG, AIM Surplus, and Century will send you dealer catalogs with many more products than you can find on their web sites.

WARNING: The previous comments about spending excessive amounts of money are more than just a joke! It's much harder to resist when prices are so enticing on guns and gear!

It took me 21 days to get my license, counting from the day I put the application in the mail. They got the letter 4 or 5 days later as my account was charged that Friday (I sent it on Monday). I was actually rather surprised at the quick turnaround.

I did send a letter to Midway, I have been wanting to get into reloading (even more now that I will have centerfire rifles) so hopefully the discount will help me out a little.

The only thing I am concerned about (other than just spending too much :D) is the availability and cost of ammunition. Reloading may help, but I think this is going to be a serious expense... more so for some firearms than others, of course. For example, I could get a Nagant revolver, which I kinda want because I don't have a revolver yet, but the ammo is so expensive it will impoverish me. Edit: Ugh, the ammo for the K31 is expensive too and it may be a bit much for a beginning reloader. Perhaps I should get an SKS first instead?

And now I also have to think of buying an AR-15, which I really cannot afford, before they all get banned. :(

Be careful of where you send your info!

There is a particular dealer (which will remain nameless) that has my C&R info as well as my credit card number on file. They do sneaky things like email me tempting monthly specials and when I call all I have to give is my license number. No delay in having to reach into my wallet to get a credit card number and no time for common sense to kick in.

They make it too easy to order.

I've been waiting a few months for my C&R to arive

atf took my money 8/10/06... its now 11/8/06... *sigh*
