As you can see, it has some holster wear on two sides of the cylinder. Does anyone know how to look up the history of a Smith revolver? I'd just like to know the date of manufacture.
Congratulations and enjoy your new S&W model 19-4~!
I have a factory nickel* 4" S&W model 19-3 P&R that I'm real proud of,
with a 7K26xxx S/N in the original factory box with docs. No I do not
shoot this baby, as I own a 6" S&W 686-5 L-frame, just in case I want
too blast away at targets~!
Heh, I forgot to post the good side profile pic I took.
I ALSO forgot to say where I got this from. My uncle used to be a sheriff and this was his duty weapon. I ended up getting this at no expense to myself
That is one of the best looking revolvers I've seen in a while. Is the finish on those grips original or have they been redone? In any case, the grips are also beautiful!
Many ask what the best S&W .357 Magnum is and I must admit, the M19 just might be that revolver.
Also, I agree, avoid any bullet that's lighter than 140gr for your M19. The damage done to K frame revolvers was mainly due to super fast 125gr ammo. (145gr Winchester Silvertips are great though lol)
I had one as well and shot the snot out of it. Wish in some respects that I'd kept it hence the red face. Easy to smooth out the trigger and I used the Hogue rubber grips. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!
Niiiice! I have one that looks just like that on layaway. I should have it out next month and I'm eager to see just how accurate this gun is. This model just feels right in the hand with those target grips and the way the gun is balanced.

Absolutely the BEST way to get a gun like this. Not only does it look like new but it's got a family history behind it. Is he still around? If so will he be joining you at the range to relive the old days?
