ok it was just 1 gun but........I came to work the other day and had my pistol in its case unloaded then zipped up in my shooting bag tossed in my back seat of my extended cab truck.
Come 11:30 at night I start feeling really bad tossing cookies:barf: and all so I leave and head home. Well I got to about 4 miles from home and had to puke:barf: again so I pull into a grocery store parking lot(closed at the time) randomly pull into the parking area drop it in park get out and start getting ready for another round of throwing up:barf: just as I start a local cop pulls up and tries to question me. He then makes a statement of I just want to be sure you are not intoxicated(what ever no big deal) He asks for my drivers licens as I am still heaving:barf: so I tell him when I can its on my dash in my Id holder.

My door was open so he reached in to get it then spots a box of rifle ammo in my door. Asks if I have a gun in the car. I am feeling better right now so I say yes its in the.........I get interupted and he makes me go to the front of his car with my hands on the hood. He then wants to know where the gun is(which I was trying to tell him to start with). He then gets on the radio and heads over to my truck gets the bag and puts it on the hood of my truck.

Its about 27 degrees I am in a t-shirt out side freezing and starting to feel bad again. Now 3 more cops pull in and I start having to explain my self to each one of them. First cop now wants my drivers licens again(he never got it the first time) So I tell him where it is again. He said it wasnt on the dash so now he wants to put me in hand cuffs!:what:

I tried telling him to look on the floor for my id holder but no he is persistant on cuffing me. Well his buddies start looking in my truck for my Id while this guy tries to cuff me. Just one problem I have an extreamly large diameter wrist and standard cuffs do not fit. At the same time I start feeling sick again. I tried to back off the cruiser to puke:barf: he yelled stop resisting and shoved me up on the hood right down to my chest and then RRAALLFF:barf:
right on the hood of the car.

About that time the guys found my Id on the dash on the passenger side of the truck wedged down by the windsheild. Then the guy lets me up and I still have to stand at the car until he runs my licens and calls my boss to varify my story. he gives my shooting bag back and tells me that I am illegal to keep my gun in the cab of the truck and blah blah blah. and I am free to go. Then I tell him if you would have given me half a chance I would have told you My ccw in in my Id holder on the inside and I am legal. What an idiot.

BTW I was legal any way the way it was by VA law.
I am not complaining about LE reaction to seeing some one at midnight being sick i a parking lot. But after the gun came to play it went way down hill. I hope he had fun cleaning the car up.

wow
good thing we don't live in a police state or anything.
What is up with the handcuffing thing?
wayyyyyyy out of line.

i thought the SOP was to tase you first.... odd, they must not have gotten the memo.
:uhoh:

the hand cuffing thing from past experience is because I could not prove who I was........I think oh yeah the universal clause for my and your safety right?

I thought these threads didn't happen here?
Did I violate a THR rule? If so sorry did not mean to. Just wanted to share my unpleasnt experience because I was armed....but not really

You should have told them that your name was *RALPH*.

The comment about such a thread has to do with the anti-cop bashing and pro-cop bashing elements about the place. Bashing isn't really very THR, but telling the truth should be. The problem is that folks have a very mobile opinion of which is which and where the thin line is, depending upon whether or not you enforce and obey, or merely obey.

Its not really cop bashing I know and understand what and who these guys have to deal with on a daily basis its not the toughest town but in light of a near by line of duty death every one is on edge and dont want to take chances.

Their point of view in my case.
Ok I am sitting in an empty parking lot doing paper work. Truck pulls in eraticaly parks guy jumps out and bends over. Medical problem? lets look. Pull up midnight guy throwing up Intoxicated is a definate possibility. Ok now no Id on person but its in the truck go stand over there and wait for me to get it for you while you are being sick. See evidence of a gun where is it? Ok have gun who is this guy? Is he armed? ect ect so you guys can see what they were looking at?

Up here, depending on who he was, he might get you for disorderly conduct - loud and unreasonable noises, as well as criminal mischief -- police property, and perhaps even assault (olfactory) on an officer.

Nice job, Ralphie.

Your signature is really the kicker.

I would have been pissed off about being handcuffed for no reason, and would be making some calls right now if I were you.

ok because of this comment I have to post this.
I now see you being pulled over playing out something like this in my head.

Hope you get better (don't sweat the bad days) and no offense to any cops on the board.

Whittles....

Dude... Hot coffee, spit, & snot do not react well with notebook computers....:what: Man o man. I needed a laugh like that......:D

All better now? Pukie bad, Freedom good, yah?

One day I tell you my famous lunch hour inspection someday but not tonight.

Cheers.

Police doing their jobs

I'm sorry for your situation, but police have tough enough jobs. YOU could have been a top-ten most wanted. That they didn't shoot you is a bonus you should cherish. cliffy

Good point, Cliff. Maybe they should draw their weapons every time they pull someone over. You never know, maybe they'll catch 'em that way...

glad you left.

so much for no bashing...
