Hi,

I just starting reloading 9mm and have to say that I sort of hate. Tiny components that don't like to stay still in my progressive press. If my powder dies is not perfectly aligned with the brass I crush cases. Putting that little bullet on that little case sucks too!

Give me .45 or even .40 any day of the week!

I do like the end result though!

I have no particular use for 9mm, so for me the question is moot. I had a friend who ordered a complete progressive setup for .380 Auto, which is smaller but somewhat the same size range, and he found the whole process insupportable because everything was so small. Sold all that stuff.

I wonder if you try to go too fast. It is not a race, and no awards are given. I think 9mm is a strong candidate for a bullet feeder. I did that cheaply on a Lee Pro1000 using both case feeder and bullet feeder. Between crashes, the output rate was pretty impressive. You just crank the handle and do this sort of visual juggling act as well high wire act.

You want small, load 25 ACP.

Different strokes for different folks but I enjoy loading 9x19 as well as the other 28 or so cartridges that I have equipment for reloading.

"cfullgraf," in the pantheon of the gods of reloading, you've gotta be right up there! Twenty-eight is amazing.

Rico567, Lorts of cartridges but I probably have not opened the die boxes of 2/3's of them in ten years or more. I tend to keep stuff that I might use in the future if it does not cost me to keep it.

I do not like being reliant on retail outlets for ammunition.:)

No problems here. Everything runs perfectly through my Dillon 550. If you are loading on a Dillon and are having alignment problems, you are doing it wrong.

It runs perfectly smooth in my LCT. In fact it's all I reload. I plan to reload other calibers in the future. But hey, to each his own. You have a right to dislike it and to another one to let us know ;).

Funny you guys mention 9mm today. I just left my reloading shop. I set up my Dillon SDB to load 9mm and had a little time. All the components were sitting there, so I just now cranked out about 1,000 rounds of 9mm. No problem. I'm working with cases already sized and primed so it was a bit simpler, but it was still 1,000 cases through the press. A nice afternoon. No crushed cases, no problems. Yeah, .44 or .45 is probably easier, but you shouldn't be having any problems with 9mm.

To me 9mm is the easiest on my Hornady LNL. No problems no handups, things just seem to go extra smooth when I reload 9mm.

I reloaded over 3000 9 MM this winter on a Lee turret
I have 2 Dillions & a Lee 1000 for 9MM but as I am retired I am killing time.
I am waiting for brass to start 25 auto
Have fun

i bought a dillon 1050 and mr bullet feeder in january and got them set up and cranked out my first round on feb 4 of this year. as of today i've loaded 6100. i've timed myself on multiple occasions and it takes just under 3 minutes to crank out 100 rounds. if i have someone running the primer tube gizmo, i can basically maintain that pace until my arm falls off. I've done 300 rounds in 10 minutes many times.

i also load 223 and 45acp on dillons, and lots of precision rifle cartridges single stage, and i'd say 9mm is by far the easiest so far for me.

I have lots of 9mm brass but no ambition to load it. so far just 10mm, 44mag and 45acp. My g19 is a safe queen. Big boom or go home...

9mm doesn't bother me a bit. .32 can be a but tedious, but the when I reload, it's a relaxing hobby, I'm not on a production line.

Sounds like he's probably using a Lee.

I load 9mm on my 550, easy peasy. I can do 100 rounds in 19 minutes without rushing anything. Sounds like he'd really hate .223.

I would think that your equipment and process has a big part of what's enjoyable and what's not. I use a single stage press and mostly load 45 Colt and 45 ACP (and pick up each primer by hand). Occasionally, I load .30 Carbine and .30-06. I had been thinking about starting to load for .38 Special and .357 Magnum, but I've discovered that I really dislike loading with smaller components. I'm now considering making a much bigger investment in 45 Colt.

Not at all, reloading is reloading, there all enjoyable cartridges to load IMO. It's not the hobby for everyone, and it can require patience and commitment unlike any other hobby I engage in, which soothes my nerves.

I don't find 9mm bad at all, I can do about 450/hr on a Square Deal. I've been loading .380 on a single stage lately, that's not fun.
