no need to ban guns.
it would be easier to bootstrap the nics check system.
cut their funding, lay off 90% of the call answerers. then just do away with the
3 days go ahead bit.
then it would be near impossible to buy a gun at least thru a dealer.

Would you please stop giving them ideas? Just because it becomes a thought in your head doesn't mean it has to be shared with the world. Now anyone can read it. Do you think they come up with all of their ideas themselves? I'm sure at least some of them plagerize their ideas from the fearful posts on gun boards.

With all due respect, the only problem with that line of thought is this one thing, once a gooberment employee, always a gooberment employee. No one will be laid off (although I guess they could get shuffled) our governement is in the growth business (its self). Unless of coarse they farmed out the call centers to India............

If i'm not mistaken, NICS is primarily funded by the cost of checks themselves. Since the end buyer is the one supporting the cost, there's not much case to be made for cutting funding.
That would also put all of those people out of work, which - would be a bad thing right now.

It is an article of faith among antis that the NICS check needs to be enhanced, not eliminated. It is also an article of faith that the government is the "only one in this room qualified" to control firearm sales. IOW this would never happen because it would go against the core tenets of the anti-gun belief system.

In AZ if you have a CCW permit than you don't have to go through NICS. I haven't had to wait on a purchase ever.

It's the same here in NV, and from what I understand - quite a few states.

Wouldn't bother me here in SC either.

They could have one inept operator for the enitre system for all I care. (Although it would bother me that other people couldn't buy guns... but then I guess prices would go down in desperation, and only CCW holders would reap the benefits... but I digress.)
