I've carried a 2 inch SP101 for years. It has ridden in my pocket just about everywhere and my daughter takes notice when, on a rare occasion in the kitchen, it isn't there, saying "Dad where's your friend?" Like everyone else(?) I sometimes get the bug for something different. With all the snazzy small autos and the spiffy titanium framed golly-whiz revolvers out there now, I wonder if my old friend could use a rest. But then I get to thinking really hard. I'm not a combat experienced man, and suspect that in a bad situation I would need all the simplicity I could get. So the autos aren't for me. And I sweat a lot. A really lot. And my pockets are always getting full of lint. Now where else am I going to find a gun I can field strip and wash in the kitchen sink with detergent, rinse in hot water and drain dry on a dish towel? What other gun would take the perspiration and lint that accumulates in a middle-aged fat man's pocket and function every time it is asked to? The power of a .357 with point-and-shoot simplicity, for me, just can't be beat. 5 shots is limiting, but by the time I run out of a cylinder full of ammo, any situation I can anticipate for me would be over. I really believe the only improvement I could make on my gun is to bob the hammer spur for a smoother draw. Hmmm. If I remember right, Ruger makes one like that in DAO. Have to look for one of those sometime....
