Lately as I have increased my firearms collection I have looked to other forums that are dedicated to that specific platform or weapon. While it is good to get the knowledge from them that I seek, nothing out there on the web come close to The High Road.

The name here says it all. The quality of people posting here really are at least a step above every one else out there. And then we have people like blarby who are probably 5 step above most of those people in kindness and civility. We are lucky to have Mods like Walkalong and a few others who do an out standing job helping us stay on the straight and narrow.

In visiting those other forums I have seen every thing from personal attacks going to far to the posting of foul language and links to porn. It is nice to have a place to come too that truly does provide a higher level of conversation and intelligence.

Again thanks to all those that make this a great place to spend time and learn about fire arms.

hey i am glad you feel that way being a new guy i have figured the same things it it a amazing sit that really does cover it all

Couldn't agree more. There is a wealth of knowledge here that would be very hard to surpass. I contribute where I feel I have knowledge/justification to do so. Otherwise I read and learn. I also like the fact that the mods will engage in conversation, and even friendly banter, in the threads. There has also been more than one occasion I have PM'd a mod with a specific question about a thread or why they chose to do something the way they did ie; close a thread. Their replies have always come quickly and answers were very polite. Even when I was a noob and got an infraction, they were polite and explained why I had received it.

Wonder if they will close this thread for being "off topic" even if we are giving them praise for a JWD..... Lol

It's especially nice when you're trying to find the answer to something and don't have to read through dozens of random posts that are arguing back and forth or completely unrelated. Every forum will have a little bit of that to an extent but some of the other ones are overwhelming after primarily using THR.

All of the above in spades, but I also appreciate the "cleanness" of how the site operates.

You want it to do something, and it does it. Just as one example, on some other sites, I have to fool around with the preview pane before I can actually post, and half the time it gives me a "This page can't be displayed" screen and bumps me off the site when I hit the back button. And other problems.

THR is very professionally run, both in terms of the software and the moderation. This is not to say that I haven't screwed up myself and gotten love letters from the mods. After all, I'm human too. Despite what some others think. :D

Kudos, guys!

I usually learn something new here everyday.

The gun specific forums are useful, but I usually only end up visiting them via Google. At them you are surrounded by true believers and any negative facts tend to get squashed or degenerate into name calling banter.

Here you find the bad along with the good, and can make up your own mind.

I've been here a long time. Still my favorite forum on the web. Great folks, and the mods do a great job.

I frequent two firearms forums, the same two as many other members here frequent. In terms of quality and amount of information, THR is the best, hands down!

My favorite section is Handloading and Reloading. Tons of stuff to learn there. And one of the best threads on here is the one titled, 'What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?' (at this link).

Great folks, great topics, great moderators.

Lou

I like how at THR, I seem to notice more "brains" bubbling to the surface than at other forums. The experience here can be vast. I almost always learn something new everyday, usually something that never even crossed my mind before.

The high road has perhaps the best pool of knowledge among gun forums I have found online.
Many thanks to the staff. I am continuously impressed by the moderators' knowledge, friendliness, and ability to shrug off and deflect incendiary posts, mine included, keeping things civil and high road.

Just wanted this to stay gun related. Well ok I am also very excited about my new gun as well. DPMS GII Recon 308.

I was cruising a forum that is supposed to have a bunch of members who are familiar with the semi auto 308 platform when I realized just how lucky we are to have this forum.

I rarely post, but I often read. It is remarkable what you can learn here, and you don't need to filter a bunch of garbage in the process. You guys are great.

Well with people like blarby and Walkalong there is also a wealth of goods being passed around I know I have received some very generous help from them in the past.

And if any one were to check out the pay it forward thread you would quickly learn that they are not alone in there generosity. Many members freely give of what they have and ask nothing in return, and at a time when components are very scarce.

Fully agree! This was the first gun forum I joined so I never had any idea how BAD some of the others really are with the language and personal attacks. We are lucky to have this wonderful gathering place that is so professionally run.

i too must put in my .02 i have been perusing this site very regularly for the last 5 years or so although i just registered as a member in the last month or so and i have been checking the site very religiously for the last 8 months (although part of that is the fact that i am stuck in the middle of the arabian gulf and luckily for myself this site is available for viewing anytime the internet is turned on as opposed to alot of other not .mil or .gov sites) and i can say from my personal experience that the degeneration into worthless drivel is rampant in other forums and the caliber of bot the discussion and advice is leaps and bounds greater than anything else you might find on the net.
