I cannot seem to decide which NRA Magazine to get with my membership. I like to hunt but I am not an extremely avid hunter so my current American Hunter subscription just goes to waste. I do not have any money really so I feel the American Rifleman subscription will go to waste because I can't afford any of the stuff featured. Last but not least there's Americas First Freedom, but by the time the magazine arrives the information is a bit outdated. Which of the three should I go with and stick with? I have switched my subscription 5 times in the past day because I cannot decide between the three. Which is the best in your opinion? What does each magazine offer to the reader?

I did a search for similar threads but all the threads I found seemed outdated so I don't know how current the information is.

I would get the hunter magazine. I'm not an avid hunter either, but I still like reading the hunting magazines, and they seem "classier" to me :) Also, they remind me of Grandpa, who always has a few issues lying around the house.

I get Rifleman because I don't hunt.

Don't forget - in any of the three you chose, 1/4 - 1/3 of the magazine will be self-advertising/politics/2nd Amendment stuff; another chunk will be general advertising. In my opinion, you don't chose NRA magazines as much for the content as you might chose GUNS vs. Outdoor Life.

The thing I apprecaite about American Rifleman is it gives a nice balance overall (not necessarily in each issue) of historical, current, and future guns and takes into mind high end stuff as well as working-man budget guns. For example: last month the lead articles were on guns of the American revolution and the Taurus/Rossi rifle line up. This month, the lead articles are on the .38 Super and S&W's newest iteration of the M&P rifle.

My 2 cents: Pick one - don't sweat the small stuff, dude. If you don't like it - switch next year, or switch anyway just to try another.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting both American Hunter and Rifleman but I cannot seem to find the option to do it besides renewing for another year which I don't want to do (I am paid up till 2013 lol).

The general consensus even in the older posts seems to be American Rifleman so I will switch to that and if I dislike it I will go back to American Hunter. My favorite thing in the magazine anyway is the Armed Citizens column (or whatever it's called) so I should enjoy AR.

I get American Rifleman, but can't really comment on the Hunter magazine since I've not ever read an issue. I'd like to see the NRA send one of each the first month a new member signs up and at renewal.

I get AR but it doesn't really matter because I don't consider either to be a very high quality publication. More along the lines of Guns & Ammo which hasn't been worth the paper it's printed on since Ross Seyfried left in the early `90's.
