I left shotgun news open at the kids table at Barns and Noble

I walked away from my copy of shotgun news, which I was reading at the kids table while the son and gramma were shopping for a book she wanted to get him. Seeing kids' eyes pop open at the page for J&G sales is what we call priceless. I didn't feel like retrieving it for fear of the yuppie moms though.

Does B&N have a policy against ccw?

I've open carried in Barnes & Noble dozens of times without a second glance from employees, so I don't think they have a policy against concealed carry..

So we're afraid of bookstores now? Barnes & Noble is one of my favorite places. I can enjoy a cup of coffee while reading my latest purchase or a magazine, service is very good and there are lots of wonderful books, like the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, a number of books by Massad Ayoob and more.

Never had anyone there comment when I bought a few gun magazines and if they did, I would simply tell them I like guns and reading about them.

Nalioth, we're from the same place. I can tell you the Barnes & Noble near me does not have any signs about carrying weapons, let alone one with the language required by Section 30.06(c)(3)(a) of the Texas Penal Code. And those are the only signs with any legal standing.

Pardon the pun but it sounds to me like you are judging the book from the cover. Personally, I see no reason to go around looking for imagined grievances when there are plenty of real affronts to go around. Stop and smell the coffee and pick up a good firearms-related book or magazine to read. Last I checked, Barnes&Noble has a very good selection of them.

The ranching store I frequent would be pretty welcoming to open carry, but this particular barnes and noble, in the snooty shopping center it's in, seemed like 47 hysterical calls to 911 if I open carried.

I have never, not once, seen someone "fleeing in terror" from me while open carrying, nor have I ever heard of such a thing happening to anyone relating their experiences while open carrying. It just doesn't happen.

Those few times when someone does call the police with a "man with a gun" complaint, they ignorantly think someone is breaking the law; they aren't genuinely terrified.

Only BN around here are in shopping malls that are posted, and our signs do mean something. Good coffee, but I haven't been in one in a long time. Prices are WAY to high, so I buy used books at Bookman's a store heavily patronized by liberals that doesn't care if you open carry. When I asked once, they said they support the whole Bill of Rights, but that was years ago.
