I love Barrett

I think it'd be awesome to have one of his guns, but my closest range is about an hour away, only 200 yards, and I don't even know if they allow 50bmg.
Thats why Mr. Barrett so thoughtfully makes the M468 rifles (M4s in 6.8SPC or whatever that new cartridge is). Now there's no excuse, call your FFL today.

'Pick up a Savage Model QQQ SWAT-style tactical rifle in 12.7 AWD (Action Weiner Dog)...'

'Whatcha shooting there?' 'Oh, it's my 1000yard precision rifle with a Lijta barrel, Leupold 20x76mm scope, full length glass bedded benchrest stock, chambering twelve-seven weiner dog.'

Hmmm....I'd consider one, if nothing else than for the entertainment value. (Sorta like 95% of the S&W .500's that will ever be sold.) But either way, it would sound at least as bad for for the Bradyites and Fellow-Travellers to get up in front of the cameras decrying the evils of the 1.2cm Parakeet Express, or 1/2" Action Weiner Dog, as the 12.7mm Tyrannicide.

I suggest the 12.7mm ILPR - Inaccurate, low-powered round. I meant, c'mon! I can jsut see Feinstein - "The gun manufactureres in America have produced a new threat today, ripe for the hands of terrorists - the 12.7mm Inaccurate, low-powered round!"

Or jsut the 12.7mm Tiny.

Welp, I've been tossing around the idea of the Barrett 6.8mm upper, and this seals the deal.

Good on Ronnie!

I want to see Winchester re-release Black Talons as Winchester Safety Blossoms.

Seriously.

that's one of the funniest things i've ever seen - "safety blossoms"
i think this is an excellent trend i noticed that kel-tec redefined the "assualt rifle" a few years ago with the sport utility rifle. the gun grabbers want to distort the truth, shoot, we can play too. ambiguous or euphamistic names like the sprinfield armory m1a fun stick, don't call it .45 hardball, call it .45 nerfball, the benelli m3 puppy. what kinda sick, nazi politician would outlaw puppies? 'course it's not a new idea, sam colt gave us the peacemaker.
oh, yeah. 6.8 upper? roger that. ...now i wonder if barrett makes a suppressor for it yet?

Personally, I think the ".499 Barrett" has a nice ring to it..........
lol, .499 BMG(BarrettMG), but make sure it will still fire in a .50bmg, and vice versa.

Really though, Barrett should specifically recall the serial numbers of the PD's guns, and their guns alone.
Edit: Oohh, even recall the Military's and try to blackmail congress. Sure they wouldn't return them, but...

I like Third Rail's idea:

I'm going to eventually design/build a pistol that fires some powerful rifle round, name it the "Daisybell" or the "Pretty Princess", paint it pink, etc.

I will then take photographs and make a website and press release on how it is the most dangerous pistol to ever hit the market.

I would like to see news anchors deal with that:

"The Pretty Princess, a cop killer handgun, is shown here... sporting a pink finish. Hey, stop laughing!".

I wonder if Ronny would use a name like that on a new rifle.

The various elected and appointed critters...

...would not be considering bans on .50's or anything else if they weren't also considering bans on liberty in general. Oh, wait,... liberty is already being banned little by little.

Well, I guess a .50 ban or a ban on all other weaponry is entirely proper then.

I think I have already seen the best name for the .499 Round

The new round by Barrett Arms, the .499 FUCA. I think I saw it here actually.

The .50 ban in Kali has already been bypassed by the 50 DTC. Hopefully other Mfg's will chamber some of their rifles for the new round. I've heard Barrett and Serbu *might* be working on it, maybe Armalite will follow also along with Bluegrass Armory.

Here's a link to EDM Arms 50 DTC, http://www.edmarms.com/news.htm uses all the same components but you'll need to fireform brass. If a company made the brass it would also help get it rolling.

As a side note, I know Tom Miller that sells EDM .50's at all the local gun shows. When the 50 DTC first came out he was approached by CA DOJ at a gun show. They were going to arrest him on the spot until he (former ATF) showed them that a .50 BMG cartridge couldn't be chambered. I would've liked to have been there to see the looks on their faces. :uhoh:

I would love to see lots of other rifle/handgun makers do the same, but who will ? ? ?

Gaston Glock? Nah, wayyyy too many LEA sales.

Bill ("No Honest Man...") Ruger? Nah

Remington? How many LEA's use Rem 700's for long range rifle work, and 870's as cruiser-car long arms? A.H. (Ain't Happ'nin)

Springfield Armory? They are located in The Peoples Demokratic Republik of ILL. Need is say more?

Marlin? Not too many LEA's use Marlin, although some Sheriff's Departments use 336's in .35Rem or .30/30. Some, but not a lot impact on LEA's here.

Mossberg? A maybe here, a some LEA's issue Mossberg 500's/590's as their cruiser-car arms

God Bless Mr. Barrett.

For doing that to him, he is giving it right back to them.

On a Constitutional note, American citizens should have every right to be as armed and equiped as law enforcement or MORE. Never should a government run law enforcement agency ever be armed greater than that of the people. It is the first step towards police statism.

No .50's for people, no .50's for cops.

By the way, exactly what does "law-enforcement" need a .50 for? Especially when civilians can't have them?

It is the Barrett position that we choose not to support in anyway state or local governments who are against the US Constitution and the safety and security of this nation. If California were to ban the sale of the Barrett .50 cal rifle we will stop the sale and service of all Barrett products to all State Law Enforcement agencies of the state of California immediately and ask all small arms manufactures to consider similar action.

How dare ye question the policies of Ronnie Barrett.

Look harder next time.

For those that need more proof, I just emailed Barret regarding this matter.

Barrett Firearms Mfg. Inc. will no longer sell or service any rifles to California Government agencies.

Thank you,

I've been saying the same thing. We should pass an ammendment saying that police must be subject to all civil arms regulations. That would make people think twice before banning something. (oops.. don't mean to steal your thread)

I just wrote them a nice letter

And I included Dmack's recall idea :D

If we call the round the 12.7 Tyrannicide, can we call the new rifle the "Barrett Coup d'etat"?

that is funny, I was just looking at american rifleman this morning and saw that ad on the back, I thought that was great :D we need to see more of that.

How hard would it be to promote some new cartridges and bullets?

I'd LOVE to start a company that manufactures 'Safety Blossom' bullets, 'Action Weinerdog' ammo, 12.7mm Puff the Magic Dragon, 1.2cm Parakeet Express, and .49FUCA..
