A few weeks ago some idiot taped a swastika on the door of my in-laws Temple. We're in a southern town of about 40,000, so they were a bit concerned. Anyway the police took a reprt and put the Temple on their "drive-by" list, meaning they will increase patrols (we have great police in this town and I have no doubt they will step-up the patrols).

So, my wife, who tolerates my firearms, said to me one day, "maybe you should carry when the holidays (Jewish holidays) come around next month." I was kind of floored that she brought this up, because I didn't expect her to be thinking along those lines. Anyway, I told her because of South Carolina CWP laws that I would have to get permission from the Temple elders to carry while on the property. Well, it turns out that her mother, my mom-in-law, is the President of the Temple.

So, at brunch this past Sunday she brings the topic up (totally out of the blue) to her mother. Her response, "Sounds good to me." At that point I told her and my father-in-law that I would have to get permission, probably in writing too to make it official. My father-in-law reponded "doesn't concealed mean CONCEALED?!?!" I had a good laugh.

Glad to see my in-laws are even cooler, and common sense thinking, than I thought!

The wife and I were out to eat right after I got my CCW permit...I mentioned that I wasn't armed...she responded"Great, what if we're attacked?"...she was only half kidding, and now once in a while does the "gun check"just to make sure.....ya gotta love her..:D
Her frequently asked questions are.."do have your knife?"and "do you have your gun?"..now SHE needs to get her permit...

my wife things it is sexy when I pack:D She has her own CCW as well.

She also has 6 single sisters!

My GF; "OK, fine. You can have rifles and shotguns, but no handguns in the house!"

I take her to Yakima, we almost get shot.

GF; "OK, fine. You can have one, but no ammo for it in the house unless we move to Yakima."

hahahaha

My wife became a shooter before we got married:D She got her permit about 5 years ago but usually doesn't carry when we go out together. I asked her why once and she said "I don't need to.........I've got a bodyguard: You!":D

Very similar

Went out to eat with my in-laws and most of the family last saturday night. I was carrying. Nice restaraunt, Japanese flashy knife wielding stir fry stuff. We had to drive 120 miles for this affair. On the way home my wife asked if I was "packing". Yep I said. She said she knew because I didn't have a drop to dring the entire time. Doesn't bother her. I asked her if she thought her mom and dad would mind. She said they would n't care either and would surprised if I didn't, since I made such a stink about it while Missouri was getting the CCW thing passed. I thought for sure she wouldn't want them to know. Oh well, she never ceases to surprise me.

My Inlaws...

Well, my father in-law GAVE me my forst Glock after I got engaged to my wife. My mother in-law gives me ammo for Christmas every year! I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that they are both in law enforcement!

My ex-wife hated guns before I met her, then begrudgingly accepted them, then got her own concealed carry permit after a creep targeted her for obscene telephone calls. Last seen, she was packing her own .357 magnum.

Hubby and I both have concealed permits, but he would hardly ever carry. Me, I never left home without it. We would stop at a bank any time and he would say, "cover me". He finally got a Kahr P9 like mine and now he always carries too.

We had some friends visit from AZ and John told us he had his carry permit. I asked his wife if she had hers. She replied no, she could depend on John to protect her so she didn't need one. I explained that the criminals usually go after the man first, then the woman is easy. Her mouth dropped and she had that look of suddenly realising what could happen. Don't know whether she will ever do anything about getting a permit, but I did give her food for thought. ;)

You do have a cool wife and inlaws to boot.
But, I have to wonder just how much it had to do with the recent idiototic swastika B.S..

My wife and I took our CCW class together with her father!:neener:
Out of a class of 10, I was first, her father was second and she was third in
shooting and on the written test.
My parents just ask once in a while if I have it and then drop the subject but never say anything bad.
My Mother-in-law was a pain in the Butt:banghead:
I asked her if she would rather I defend her daughter with everything I had
including a firearm or would she rather I sit by and let someone due X, Y, Z
to her/Us.
My mother-in-law as never said a thing about it again. In fact my step-
father-in-law and I were at the range last weekend.

The real scary thing.....my wife's sisters are major anti's.

My father-in-law and my wife took their permit class together. He has a one of those tip-up barrel pocket pistols. Don't know how often he carries. Wife has a model 60 that she carries infrequently. I finally figured out that she's not found a comfortable way to carry it, so she's leaving it in the safe.

Since I got my P3AT, I've been having her try it around the house in a pocket holster. Comfort-wise she likes it much. Now she needs to shoot it.

The situation you describe is exactly why out forefathers guarenteed us the right to own and carry firearms. This is a classic case of the second amendment protecting and ensuring ALL the other rights: in this case your freedom to worship the faith of your choosing.
I hope you don't need it.
Thank God for you family and their vision.

My wife came around a while ago but my in-laws were a seperate matter (my parents are a hopeless case no matter what  ). They both went to school in Berkeley, Ca back in the 60s if that has any influence on your opinion :D .

One day back in the past I took my FIL out to see some property that we were trying to sell (having just recently moved w/o selling the original place - not recomended). After we had walked around the house & had come back to the truck our neighbor's Pit Bull decided to jump the fence & rush at us. I knew from prior experience that she was probably no threat but she was raising all kinds of hell that day. My FIL was somewhat freaking out by this dog & was trying to get back to the vehicle. Later on I overheard him talking to his wife (yes, the infamous MIL :D ) & telling her that I was nuts as I just stood there with a very focused look on my face (& my hand wrapped around my USP on my hip although he didn't know that at the time).

That was on a Monday afternoon in Sept. The following day there were two planes flown into a couple of tall buildings in NYC, one in Wa DC, & one into a PA field :( . That same day Mrs. L & I went out shopping for LOTS of stuff (not knowing what was up). When we got home & backed the truck up to the back door to unload, I took off my overshirt exposing what was on my hip. Apparently there was an epiphany that day as he took me off to the side later & thanked me for watching over his daughter & grandkids so well.

The funny thing was that his "little girl" was also watching my 6 with her SP101 that he had no idea of :D (& still doesn't).

My in-laws are better than my wife. My wife is pretty leary of guns and just touched one for the first time about a year after I bought it. Her parents were like "I bet you didn't know we had a gun in the house the whole time you were growing up..." That suprised her ;-)

While Illinois Nazis are indeed, the worst kind of Nazis, Carolina Nazis run a close second.

*************

My in-laws are mostly indifferent. OK, they're pretty much worthless, whatever the subject at hand. It is truly by G*d's grace that my wife turned out to be the fine woman that she is, because she had a terrible example growing up. Her grandparents & great-grandparents & those further back were all high-achievers & squared away (ambassadors, college-educated women way back in the day, gals who were able to outsmart Commanches & survive in early Texas, pistol-toting brothers & sisters in the Oklahoma land rush...). I don't know why her folks turned out so durn worthless, except that they are the first non-believers in their respective lines.

I was the first guy-friend to ever invite her shooting. I think she liked the fact that I didn't assume her to be incompetant or unteachable. All her previous guy-friends didn't want her along on their shooting/hunting outings.

Anyway, she got her CHL before we were married and is good with a 9mm 1911 and Kel-Tec P32. Her favorite quote from Gone with the Wind , "I can shoot straight...if I don't have to shoot too far..."

Sorry, no sisters.
