Ok I aquired a real nice Rem 700 in a trade awhile back but since I dont really need it or shoot it I have decided to sell it. The problem is that when I went to look up the value I ran into a confusing list of letters (BDL, CDL, etc...)

What is the best way to tell what model 700 I have?? I am thinking its a CDL because it has a very nice shiny stock with checkering and some engraving on the receiver, but I want to know for sure before I list it.

    Thanks for any help.

Look at Remington web site, and match it up, or post a picture:)

I think you could probably just call customer service and give them the serial number and ask them what it is. I had a minor problem with a Remington that I called about just yesterday, and once I gave them the number, they knew what it was.

CDL has a detachable magazine. ADL has no magazine floorplate. BDL is the "normal" magazine arrangement, in the deluxe grade (over the simpler ADL.) I don't know what they call the Classic version.

Unless something changed, my CDL does not have a detachable mag. It does have a hinged floor plate though.

Gloss stock and engraved reciever W/ floorplate = BDL deluxe.
If it has a detachable magazine, then it's a BDL-DM custom deluxe. If it is a BDL-DM deluxe then it won't be in the blue book. I know this becuase i have one. It was only offered for a few years with the DM. Also, If you have a BDL deluxe and it's chambered in 7mm Rem mag or .300 Win mag then the price goes up about $20.00 says the all-knowing blue book.
    ADL-blind magazine
    BDL-magazine w/floor plate
    SPS-(basically a BDL w/ sysnthetic stock)
CDL-BDL with new"ish" matte wood stock
    DM-detachable magazine

"...best way to tell what model..." The BDL came with iron sights. A CDL did not. Same rifle otherwise. Should be stamped BDL or whatever. The engraving is aftermarket.
"...CDL has a detachable magazine..." Nope. Hinged floor plate. The M700 SPS DM has a detachable mag.
"...SPS-(basically a BDL w/ synthetic stock)..." The SPS replaced the ADL.
All 700's are the same rifle with different 'features' and materials(SS vs blued steel).

BDL...it may be a 'Limited'(it will say 'limited' on the left side of the receiver) but more than likely it is one of the old 'embellished' model 700 BDL's.

The embellished receivers had roll marked scroll work type patterns on the receiver. Came in Stainless and Blue.

Does it have a black tipped forend tip with white line spacers, or a tipless stock with a high gloss finish?

Seen a Rem 700 like yours, at the funshow today, with a $750 sticker on it.

Sunray- It does have a hinged floorplate with some nice engraving and a rams head. It does have a front sight but it looks like the rear sight was removed.

Uncle Mike- It has a black tipped forend with white stripe and a high gloss finish. The only thing it says on the receiver is "Remington Model 700" and the serial #

Anyone have any clue what this thing is worth?

    Sounds like a 700 BDL 'Embellished'....in = />90% condition it's worth $470 to $600.

Now mind you that price is area specific...you may or may not get a better price for it in your area. Also the 'Embellished' models bring about $100 to $150 LESS than a standard BDL.
