I need some opinions. Israeli K-98

I picked up an Israeli modified K-98 at a gunshow a while back and need some opinions on what to do with it. It has been re-chambered to 7.62 Nato. The reciever is '41 and has the late war trigger guard and front barrel band; the rear band is early war. The stock has the take-down hole plugged. The overall finish is slightly above average for a milsurp, and the action and trigger are very smooth. Now for the bad news. The bore was a little dark, but didn't look like it had been cleaned for a while. I've had fair luck cleaning bores like that up in the past, so didn't worry about it much. One thing that did bother me a little was the rifling was showing some wear at the muzzle.

When I shot it it doesn't so much group as it patterns. Kinda like when Bubba did a Randy Weaver.

I can't decide what to do with it.

Sell/trade. I woudn't sell it without telling the new buyer the deal, so I figure it's worth the price of a reciever + parts. I wouldn't lose too much.

Keep it as/is for the historical value.

Sporterize it. I have no real desire to do this, but who knows what might happen in the future.

Counterbore the barrel. I'm leaning towards this, but could use some imput from anyone who has tried this on other milsurps. What do you think this would do to the historical value of the rifle? How much improvement in accuracy have you gotten? I don't expect MOA but would like to get down to 3-4 MOA or it probably isn't worth the trouble. I have a MN M44 that is counterbored and that is about what it gets, and I haven't worked on the trigger on it.

Any other option I have missed?
