I am a caliber addict. Just when I think all my whims are satisfied, I read an article that sparks a new interest. Today's new craving is for the venerable .44-40 because I never had one.
Will have to start from scratch, need a rifle, handgun, dies and brass.
Sheesh I need to stop reading. :what:

I’ve never worried about increasing the number of different cartridges that I shoot. If I get interested in a particular firearm or cartridge, I go for it.

It is one reason I have tools and equipment to load and shoot something north of thirty different cartridges.

One benefit of reloading, scarcity of ammunition is not an issue as long as one has components. Unfortunately, these days are trying times for branching out into a new cartridge.

All this activity has occurred over the past 41 years so it has not been a short term project.

Agree, it’s an addiction. What’s not fun about finding success in the face of uncertainty?

But a while ago I saw the dwindling supply handwriting on the wall. So now I load calibers for specific purposes and I haven’t picked up another caliber to load, going on 10 years now. So I guess I was successful with the 12 step program? :)

I plan on adding only one more gauge to load for (16 ga. 2 1/2") , and 2 calibers (possibly 3) : Whichever drilling caliber I end up with, 9mm, and possibly .30-06. I have a ton of brass for the last two, and have owned them before, just don't currently.

My downfall is going to the range or local pit. Then I find a pile of lonely brass needing love. I bring it home and clean it up and add it to a pile I already have. Then I look at that pile and think "it's a shame not to use it" so I buy some dies. Then the slippery slope begins............ Why else would I reload 25 ACP or 9 MM Largo to name some I do. Then it needs to be shot and tested for accuracy so down the rabbit hole I go! I never learn sob:(

I have loaded for .38/.357, 9mm, .44SPC, 45-70, and 12ga, but got out of that business some time ago... I have since jumped back in with the 9mm and .45-70.

Friend of mine bought a 6.5CM and wanted me to handload for it... so it's one of those things... I don't own a 6.5, but I handload for it.

I've always threatened to build or buy something in 6.8SPC and 10mm... but I have successfully resisted. I still have an idle AR lower upstairs, it may wind up being built out in 6.8SPC, but I would have to see a better availability in components, first. Buddy of mine bought a CMMG Banshee AR in 10mm; so while the HK MP5/10 is out of my grasp (in every way...) a 10mm AR is not so much. Hmmm...

I currently load 5 handgun and 7 rifle cartridges... I don't really expect it to change anytime soon.

6.8SPC is a great round, wanted something my AR could deer hunt with. Don't reload 5.56 because it's been plentiful and cheap but I do reload for the 6.8.

At first glance, I thought this was my thread!!! LOL

I just completed this EXACT same journey.

RIGHT NOW.... Seriously.... NOW!
Go to Starline Brass and place a Back Order on some 44-40 Brass while they are accepting them.

It took a bit of time to land an American made revolver, but I finally came across a gently used Vaquero.
The rifle was easy enough, all it took was money.
I picked up a Henry.
I actually saved quite a bit of money getting the Henry off of GunBroker.
You just have to watch for awhile.

Bullets are not hard to find.

I finished loading up a box of ammo and am ready to take them out for a test drive.

Good Luck with your next cartridge!!!!

Stay off of the various gun forms on here!!!
Those people are enablers and a dangerously deceptive influence!!!

I missed a few…
300BLK (got the barrel) and brass
454 casull Got brass, and bullet, and gun
7mm Rem Mag
8mm Rem Mag (got 4 boxes of factory ammo)
I think that might be

Im part of the Calibers Anonymous club too... Started buying ARs in duplicate calibers just so I didnt have to source new supplies. I dont actively reload for every caliber I own, but have the means to do so. I think the only dies im missing are 6mm Rem and the elusive 32NAA. I think im up to about 40 calibers

they had 6mm Rem on sale at my local!$28-ish

Same with the AR. I bought 4 AR 5.56 upper because I was not sure what size I needed. All I’m missing is 350 legend and X39

I too am afflicted with the condition, and I have several guns to prove it. I saw a 32 ACP and soon bought one even though I had all my caliber needs covered. Same with 380, 7.62x54r, 303 British, 45 Colt, a "marine" 12 ga pump, a 30-30 and 44 Magnum Contender barrels. If I could have found one, a 327 Fed would have joined my stable. Actually my first handgun, a 3" 38, would probably have kept me happy, but I saw a 357 Mag for sale so I "needed" one and a shiny S&W 629 appeared in the LGS display case, and I "needed" one so I bought it. Seems like that happened wiith all 11 different cartridge guns I've "needed"....
