I was heading home for the xmas holiday (been working out of state) and stopped to stretch the legs, at a gun shop of course. I came across a "used" Springfield Armory XD 45acp for $420. Neither mag looks like they have ever had a round loaded, I don't think it has ever been fired. They were waiting about two to three hrs for the background checks so I'll have to pick it up in the morning but I guess I can wait that long.

This is going to be my new carry pistol and I'm wondering what type of holster would work well. Other than a P89 this is my first non wheel gun.

Thanks,
hlq

I'll be grabbing a Taurus 24/7 compact in the A.M. Good luck with the XD, got the XD-M in 40 and love it.

Still thinking about a holster for this new rig..

Any suggestions?

thanks

Really depends what your looking for, if you want an IWB you would be hard pressed to find a nicer holster than the Comp-Tac MTAC. Not only are the holsters great but their customer service is world class. If you want outside waistband then look at more comp-tacs or the Don Humes.

+ 1 on the mtac...but there are others as well.

i have the XD45c that i carry daily in a comp-tac "mtac". this is a very comfortable holster...easy on, easy off. is adjustable tension as well. as a tip, dont put too much tension as it will affect your draw...remember this is IWB and the belt will add some support/tension as well.

if you like OWB, then go with the comp-tac paddle, i have it as well and really love it too. i use it mostly for IDPA or when i know i'm wearing something that is very loose and not tucked...or an outer jacket. the paddle doesn't ride really close to the body and for some this hinders its concealibility.

you may also want to give the ctac and/or gurkha a try, both from comp-tac.

the only other holser i really like in kydex are the blade-tech ones. i would actually take the blade-tech UCH over the comp-tac gurkha due to the fact that it is tuckable (added concealment). i use the UCH for my FNP-45 which is a bigger gun than the XD and it does well.

i think leather looks much nicer, but kydex is better suited for my usage. the mtac is the best of both.

***and as stated, you can not beat comp-tac's customer service...it is LEGENDARY!!!

Here it is..

Here's a couple of shots of the XD

Thanks, I pick up a Galco belt holster to try out for now as it all I could get that I liked at the gun shop. I'm going to keep looking for that "perfect" holster though.
