I have a list of about 10 dream guns (who doesn't) and the SIG P226 is one of them. I do not know how it is in other states, but in Colorado the past two weeks have resulted in the practice of filling out your background check and then coming back the next day because the wait is so long these days;). I was in the store the other day to fill out my backgorund check because I new I would be picking up my Ruger Mark III today. While I was filling out the BG check I noticed a SIG P226 on consignment. It looks brand new and it is has no Tactical rail (which I prefer). When I went in to pick up the Mark III the SIG was still there so I had to rescue it. One more gun checked off of my dream list.:D

I have a few questions about it:

1. It's a .40 S&W. Can I drop a .357 Sig barrel in without any other revisions (i.e. recoil spring, guide rod)?

2. I am anticipating the "Hi Capacity Mag" ban is right around the corner, so where can I get high quality Hi Cap Mags at a good price?

3. I recently discovered that the Navy SEALS had to make a few revisions to the SIG 226 so it could meet their needs. One of the changes was to the slide. They now mill them out of a solid peice of stainless steel. Originally they were stamped steel (hammered out and then pinned). The SEALS we having problems with the original one due to the salt water (it would rust). I was wondering which one I have. The frame is stamped "-SIGARMS INC. EXETER NH-" "-Frame Made in Germany-" -- The Serial# is in the 600,000's (6#####).

Help me out

You have a newer one. The stamped slides were 9mm. When they moved up to 40/357, the heavier/stronger slide was needed so none of the 40s were made stamped. Congrats, I like my 40/357 a lot (you just need to switch out the barrel). However, I prefer my older W.German stamped 226 9mm.
TopGunSupply is good for SIG mags. Unfortunately, you need to get $30 SIG factory mags since it looks like the Mecgar $25 mags are sold out. Unlike most non-name barnd mags, Mecgar is just as good as factory
