So I wanted to share some pics of my new Anschutz Model 164 Sporter in .22lr that I picked up today. I had it on layaway at my local gun shop but for a about a week but i couldn't resist bringing her home today.

The gun is in immaculate condition and is stamped "Ulm W. Germany" so it's by no means new. I fitted it up with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 MC scope which I think will work great for this gun.

I'm very excited to take this gun out and try it out, I've been wanting an Anschutz .22 for a long time and when I saw this sitting on the rack at the gun shop I didn't hesitate to put money down on it. The price was $450 which I thought is very reasonable considering its condition.

Anyway here are some pics....

Very nice; I do not think you could have done any better than that for 450.

Can you tell what the make is on the rings? The whole base/ring system looks kinda like an air gun set up. Should be fine for a .22 LR. Wonder if it's all factory.

What's the length of that barrel? Looks long. 24"?

How many rounds do the clips hold?

Like the open sights. Don't see those much, anymore. Gotta like that.

Stock design looks sweet. High cheek rise, cool looking deep-drop pistol grip. Sorta like some of their competition air gun desgins.

$450 is a great deal, IMHO.

My first .22 LR, that I got to shoot and hunt with a lot, was a scoped Anschutz semi auto. Used a straight 10 rd clip. My Air Force Dad bought it in West Germany, when we lived there in the '70's. All steel and wood. He's still got it, too. I think the Anschutz semi autos are pretty rare on this side of the pond, but I still like the looks of their bolt's better.

Yes it's a 24in barrel and the clip holds five rounds.

The rifle didn't come with any rings when I bought it so I added the Redfield .22 rings.

Same rings I used on my elderly Savage-Anschutz for a 2-7X.

The only Anschutz auto I have ever seen was the same action as the Italian Weatherby, just a plainer stock style.

Congratulations for the good find! Like those older round bolt shroud Anschutz 22s myself. Picked up a nice older Anschutz 141 made in the mid 60s about ten years ago been one of my favorite 22 bolt rifles.
