I Quit Cleaning My CZ

I have decided to stop cleaning my CZ-97. I want to see how far it can go. I am shooting my reloads exclusively and they shoot very very cleanly. I use only WW231 in my 97 reloads.

I'm at 350 rounds now. I'll keep it lubed sufficiently, but that's all. I will not abuse it in any way; should be interesting.

What's the longest you've gone without cleaning one of your frequent shooters?

400 rounds for my CZ kadet. No malfunctions.

250 rounds out of my CZ 75.

Never tried it witht he 97. It doesn't get shot much... But I don't seem to be losing any shooting ability. When it does get shot, it's usually one-hole groupings.

I've shot a few hundred rounds at once out of my PCR before, never a failure. I've shot probably at least four hundred out of the kadet Kit at once before, again no failures, since I don't count slide lock as a failure (when will I ever rely on it anyway?) and the alloy frames are not what the Kadet was designed for, so I feel it is doing an admirable job.

I don't go over 200 rounds out of my 75 B or PCR, I don't like dirty guns, I have respect for them, give them service and they will serve you.

My CZ75B-SA is special too me.... First handgun. Can't see my self not cleaning it after any number of rounds.

I like machines to function in the best way possible. I could run my car without changing the oil for a whole lot of miles, but I try not to.

Seeing as a typical shooting session for me can be 4 or 500 rounds, and I don't clean in the middle of a session, I think I have you beat. ;-)

I shot my SP-01 157rds out the box, no probs. (yea I know thats a terrible thing to do)
I wouldnt have cleaned it then but I had a class this weekend, and I didnt want any probs then. I just finished tallying up round count from today. Its somewhere around 190rds today, that was doing reloads and induced malf drills, shooting on the move and some bullseye stuff. I sucked at all of that, but the gun didnt have any probs. The last thing we did was 25yd 5rds of bullseye, standing 2 hand grip. I didnt even hit the paper. At ten yards in the back yard with no pressure just me and the gun, I can tear the bullseye up. Move back a few feet, add some pressure and other shooters, I can barely hit a silhouette. Oh well Ill start practicing on my long shots.
I shot my XD on day 1, no probs but only 150rds.

I quit cleaning my kadet

I had a friend shoot my kadet very close to 500 rounds in one sitting and the gun was starting to have problems. it was remington box of 525 rounds and we could see the bottom of the box when the misfires etc starting showing ukp. I broke it down, sprayed it was break free and the kids finished the 525 round box.
it was two teenagers under adult care at a privit range.

Any gun I have that won't go 1000+ rounds with nothing more than a wipe down between sessions rather quickly becomes a safe queen. I generally only clean them after they mess up, except for carry guns which are cleaned after every outing.

I don't understand the thinking behind not cleaning your firearm? I can clean my PCR pretty well in less than ten minutes and it certainly gives me more than ten minutes pleasure whenever I shot it.
Why wouldn't you clean it after a shooting session?

...and I think with most gun owners, that is 10 more positive minutes they get to spend with their guns.

I agree with the statement, however, that I would become seriously concerned with a gun that needed to be cleaned every couple hundred rounds or it would malfunction. A gun like that is one that wouldn't even likely be a safe queen for me. It would be sold.

with todays moderan cleaner buring ammo. if a gun can't go a 1000 rounds without cleaning, it ain't much of a gun. Every gun mentioned in this thread can do that with ease. It is not a big test of durability either. Most clean because they want to, not because the gun itself requires it. Certainly nothing wrong with cleanng your guns either. I am sure Hoppe's Inc. feel you should clean every 50 rounds if you get my point. My G19 and M&P9 certainly don't cleaned any oftener than 1000 rounds and neither has ever malfunctioned, or for that matter when taken down looked bad either.

I bought a blued CZ 75B 9mm Luger in Mid-May - paperwork said it left the
factory Jan. '08. After getting the phone call from my gun dealer/gun smith
I told him to field strip it, clean off the factory grease and lube the rails. I got it the next day. I had heard so much about stone cold reliability in the 75B I thought I'd test it since I got it as a range gun. After 670 rounds of every kinda of 115 gr, 124 gr. & 147 gr. from WWB to Speer Gold DOt, and Rem Golden Saber, with 100% reliable function and silly accuracy I broke it
down to lean it. Finding out how easy it is to field strip now I do it after
every range session of 100+ rounds, but if I forget, I am not worried about it

The CZ's can go a very very very very very very long time without cleaning. A drop of oil on the slide rails and on the barrel top and a bore snake and the rest of the gun will take care of itself

I want to see how the pistol functions for a least 1000 rounds without a full scrubbing. I nearly always clean my pistols after each range session, if I miss a cleaning after 100 rounds, I always clean them the next time. I am using a combination of FMJ and cast bullets.

I think a modern firearms using modern propellants should go a long time without malfunctions. I want to personally find out, no opinions, no conjecture, just facts.

That's my reason.

I fail to see the reasoning in doing so however its your firearm, now I will go
drain the oil from my car and see how far I can go before she blows.

Thanks for the reply, I just couldn't figure out why someone would be too lazy to clean the handgun and I guess that was the way I interpreted your post....sorry for that.
Since a lot of the CZ's are NATO tested for combat use, I would suspect you can get gazillions of rounds down the pipe....keep us posted.

I had my makarov go for well over 700 rounds once with no wipe down or re-oil. My sig mosquito .22 had about 5-600 rounds through it with no clean or re-oil.

My guns are treated well now...typically, they're torn down after each range session and are lovingly scrubbed clean and re-oiled! They're good to me, so I'm good to them.

well, i shot two matches back to back, round count with no missing was about 360. probably shot up around 425 rounds. stupid steel stages, lol. somehow i found sand in the magwell and inside the gun, probably from sanded up magazines. :shrug:

I never clean my XD9 before 500 rounds, and sometimes not before 1000. Never had a FTF or FTE, and that's with Blazer (aluminum). It's no big deal really.

I'm over half way through the third milk carton of 22 in the Kadet adapter on my 75 with no problems. That is about 1400 of the cheapest, dirtyist, wax lubricated bullet, crap on the planet.
