I rediscovered an old friend,,,
It has been languishing in my safe for awhile.
It's a Henry Accu-Bolt single-shot in 22 LR.
Last Christmas I was all set to give this rifle to a nephew,,,
His liberal mom put the kibosh on that plan.
Mine was one of the ones that came with a cheap 4X scope,,,
I had taken the scope off of the rifle as I wanted the kid to learn open sights.
Anyways, The rear sight had to be lowered to the barrel to mount the scope,,,
So last week I was looking for something different to take to the range,,,
The sights needed to be adjusted so that was the excuse I needed.
My friends,,,
I had forgotten what a nice gun the Henry is.
Those Williams Fire Sights are absolutely fantastic,,,
When I finally got the sights somewhat zeroed,,,
I was popping plastic toy soldiers at 25 yards.
That may not seem like much,,,
But for my 61 year old eyes,,,
That was good shooting.
I've been "playing" with my handguns so much,,,
I had forgotten how enjoyable a 22 single-shot rifle can be,,,
My actual shooting time was about 1 1/2 hours and I barely used 100 rounds.
I bought a set of rimfire metal silhouette targets a while back,,,
I think they will be what I take on my next range trip,,,
With the Henry and 100 rounds of rimfire ammo.
Nothing here really to discuss,,,
Except that I've been ignoring my long barreled friends too long.
