I rediscovered an old friend,,,
It has been languishing in my safe for awhile.

It's a Henry Accu-Bolt single-shot in 22 LR.

Last Christmas I was all set to give this rifle to a nephew,,,
His liberal mom put the kibosh on that plan.

Mine was one of the ones that came with a cheap 4X scope,,,
I had taken the scope off of the rifle as I wanted the kid to learn open sights.

Anyways, The rear sight had to be lowered to the barrel to mount the scope,,,
So last week I was looking for something different to take to the range,,,
The sights needed to be adjusted so that was the excuse I needed.

My friends,,,
I had forgotten what a nice gun the Henry is.

Those Williams Fire Sights are absolutely fantastic,,,
When I finally got the sights somewhat zeroed,,,
I was popping plastic toy soldiers at 25 yards.

That may not seem like much,,,
But for my 61 year old eyes,,,
That was good shooting.

I've been "playing" with my handguns so much,,,
I had forgotten how enjoyable a 22 single-shot rifle can be,,,
My actual shooting time was about 1 1/2 hours and I barely used 100 rounds.

I bought a set of rimfire metal silhouette targets a while back,,,
I think they will be what I take on my next range trip,,,
With the Henry and 100 rounds of rimfire ammo.

Nothing here really to discuss,,,
Except that I've been ignoring my long barreled friends too long.

The accubolt has always intrigued me, glad to hear it's a fun rifle

My personal favorite single shot .22? Easy

My CZ 452 Scout, put a slip on Limbsaver to get the LOP up to adult dimensions, and it's a great toting gun (I also love my single-shot UltraLux)

Plus, it'll take standard CZ .22LR mags as well, so it doubles as a repeater, right now I have the CZ single shot adapter in my UltraLux, and am really enjoying that one too

That said, I still want to add a H&R .22lr sportster to the collection, just because…

Hello MacTech,,,

Our tastes in rifles are somewhat similar.

I also own an H&R Sportster,,,
I have a Bushnell Banner scope on it,,,
It's a definite bunny-buster and not expensive at all.

Here it is with my Handi-Rifle in .357 Magnum.

I love when people crowd behind me on the range,,,
I've gotten very good at ejecting hot brass over my shoulder at them.

I also own a CZ-452 but my rifle is the Special Military Trainer version,,,
I've had a single-shot adapter on order for quite some time now,,,
The rifle has more inherent accuracy than my old eyes can use.

It's definitely the prettiest rifle I own.

Later my friend,,,

My personal favorite is the ol' Ithaca Saddlegun single shot, but I wouldn't kick that Henry outta the safe.

It's always nice getting together with old friends. I recently ran into my first shotgun, a single shot H&R model 098 .410. Who needs a new gun when all you need to do is a little spring cleaning to find old gold? Haha!

Mine is a BSA Martini-Henry Action .22 LR Target Rifle w/globe sights. Astounding gun.
