I Said I Would Never Own A DA 1911.......I Lied

OK, fine. They aren't 1911's. Para doesn't even call them 1911s.

It is what it is...

It's a nice DAO gun.

At least it's big and heavy and a .45.....that's gotta be worth points eh?

My C7 is prone to rust. Its currently in a zip-lock bag sprayed down with break-free until I can get it hard-chromed. I had two problems, it wouldnt slide-lock with the factory mag (replaced that day with a couple wilsons - seems to be standard practice for me) and the extractor started to lose tension after break-in (also replaced with wilson). Accurate little pistol to have a 3.5" bbl. Never failed to feed, even with a limp wrist. Personaly, I think they should have made a Companion with the CCW slide. The bobbed treatment didnt fit me very well, but I like the longer sight radius and it seems to balance better.

One thing that bothers me is that the mag catch isnt "standard," so without modifications, you cant swap in another one if the stocker breaks, which I have only seen happen once (not mine). Seems like the hole in the frame was too tight for an off the shelf replacement part.

I've been a big SA 1911 fan for years but these little PM series DAO Kahr's are so much easier to hide. I had a Kahr PM9 (since sold) and recently ran across a good deal on a black slide PM40 w/nite sights. I've learned to like the light DAO trigger of the Kahrs, but wish they had a .45 in the PM series but settled on a .40. Has anyone shot both LDA and a Kahr for comparison??

Yes. The Kahr trigger is heavier than the LDA. The LDA works better for me since its so much like a 1911, which is my prefered platform.

Hey TennTucker, nice mag on that 6.45. ;)

Da 1911

Congrats, I am sure you will really like it. I too had no intention of buying a DA 1911. Once I picked up this gun and felt the trigger it was all over. I love the gun! Shoots great, is accurate, and carries easily!
