I think I am a Libertarian

Welcome, Tecumseh :)

I joined about 2 years ago after some fellow students started sending me angry messages about being a damn libertarian based on an editorial piece I wrote for the school paper. Only thing I knew about the party up to that point is that a lot of the pot heads on campus liked the party. I did my own research after that and became a Libertarian, capital 'L'.

If you are interested in talk radio, you might want to check out Free Talk Live. They have many of their past shows on their website for download. They did an interview with Michael Badnarik back when he was running for president.

Problem #1 remains that a Libertarian - by definition - places little value on government. So how does a true Libertarian ever gain any power?

To affect any real change, a Libertarian would have to somehow gain power and then give it up -- like Cincinnatus or the Founding Fathers. Lightning just does not strike all that often.
The Free State Project is the best answer for this. It's not affiliated with the Libertarian Party, but many of it's members lean that way. It's a group of people that want to see smaller government. Since the LP has always had a problem with getting people to hear about their message, let alone vote for them, concentrating a bunch of liberty minded people in a small area can only help the cause.

A few other good links are:
Lew Rockwell
Ludwig von Mises Institute

I would not say libertarians place little value in government. I feel libertarians strongly support both government and the rule of law. Rather, they oppose vast domestic powers. Basically, government plays an important role, but not a large one.

The Fee State project is a joke, if it was working why is NH moving further to the left every year. There are not enough libertarians in this nation to make any difference one way or the other. Its a nice idea that its time has come and gone.
