I think I'm done reloading 5.56 for a while

I tried 75 hpbt, 75 AMAX, eld-m, 68 hpbt, and 77 CC.
The CC matched the Sierra accuracy. But the terminal effect on coyotes wasn't the same.
I too run everything single stage and enjoy it.
But my wife, kids, farm and day job make time more valuable than .50 cents per round if I use my stockpile. If I have too replace it at current prices it is a break even proposition.
I only run about 500 per year anyway.

If my kids were still young I wouldn’t have the time to do it. I do most of my reloading after 9 pm when my wife goes to bed. My kids are teenagers so don’t need or want constant attention.

It’s hard to put a price on the time spent. If I consider it fun, which it typically is, I don’t count it in the cost. Since finding a better way to clean brass I’ve been able to process much larger batches in the same time. I turn on a podcast or play list and have at it.

I did have to learn not to push myself and be content with what I have completed.

With free brass, along with catching primers and bullets on sale, it’s tough to buy cheaper for me.

Plus, atleast for me, I've found my accuracy is better with my ammo vs factory
like American Eagle, PMC, RP or Win.

AR15-A1 20" 1 in 9. No idea if my rifle's particulars make a difference?

Just my 2¢ YMMV

Myself, I'll keep reloading until I run out of powder and primers. Depends on the price of primers and powder when I have to restock.

Right now I still reloading with old stock @ $75/1000
At todays inflated prices ($180 for 8# of powder & $100 for 1000 primers) I could reload the 223rems for $180/1000

Did everyone suddenly become a reloader?

Probably not so much, but some people suddenly became brass scroungers.

If I count the time I spend on loading I’m loosing money I’m sure, but I’m on a single stage press and I don’t shoot a large volume.

It really depends on everyone's individual needs and abilities... Truthfully, I don't have the time to spend prepping 1000 5.56mm cases vs just loading up a case of factory for a weekend or two of shooting.... but that is also generic blasting ammos. I DO reload my accuracy rounds for 5.56mm. As a reference, I have a lot of about 2000 LC cases I'm prepping... I've been working on them for 6 months... and I'm still not done. I get in there and work on them when I have the time, but right now work is forcing my hand. For those of us that shoot more expensive cartridges, I would rather spend that time loading cartridges that save me, quite literally, $2/rd or more, or cartridges I can't even get for any price (.348WCF for example.)

I agree. Last time I saw 240 wby it was 3.25 per round. 30-40 Krag is virtually non-existent.
Still not as bad as 348 though.
The thing that gets me is people comparing the price of reloading fmj ammo to either match or hunting ammo.
It would be like me saying my commuter car cost less than your Lexus etc.

Pick your battles. I'm not going to knock myself out over 1000 rounds of something I can buy readily, and by the case. And... granted... some people are set up better to prep and load large quantities of something like 5.56mm... I got that, and that's cool.

When the cartridge is ready to be reloaded, I can put an $0.08 FMJ bullet on top and make a 35 cent cartridge, or put a $0.20 - $0.25 bullet on it and build a $1.00+ round..
I haven't touched the FMJ bullets in a while, I only load SP, BTHP and V-Max/varmageddon now.
A lot of people forget or don't know, the full metal jacket bullet is a less-than-ideal compromise to comply with treaties.

People will always buy ammo and beer, but some people prefer to make thier own. The price to do either probably has very little to do with ones preference. :D
Well put.
In that case. I hate store bought beer. But I like Scotch. So I should buy a tank and reload ammo for it. Because I like reloading;)
I'll be looking for new neighbors shortly...
