I have around $1000 to $1500 to spend on a nice full size .45 auto.
I want stainless steel with Pearl or Ivory looking grips.
I want it to shoot with no malfunctions out of the box and with great accuracy
This will be my nicest gun.
What do you reccomend?
Thanks,

Richard

One of these four:
Colt Combat Special Govt hard chromed (or a Gold Cup)
Springfield Trophy Match
Kimber Gold Match II
S&W 1911 (adjustable sights)

Don't know how you define "great accuracy" out of the box (how tight a group at xx yds in a ransom rest or handheld, bullseye, scoot & shoot) but most will shoot better than the average human behind the trigger, all things being equal.
For Guaranteed 1.5" you're talking a few dollars more... like another thousand or thereabouts from a custom boutique type mfg. (or any of the above listed's Custom Shop)

Real Ivory grip panels will run you another $300+
I'm not real big on Pearl grips so I can't help or suggest anything there.

I have not shot one yet but the new Sig 220 Single action Target looks sweet. I have the D/A P220 and love it. I am getting the itch for one of the new ones:D

I'm pretty sure you can't put different grips on an HK USP45. :neener:

My Kimber 1911 was extremely reliable out of the box, and was VERY accurate.

But I do hear of people getting Kimber lemons:uhoh: The lemons usually are still VERY accurate, but they will be jamo-matics. I have personally never had a problem with my Kimber, but I here of so many people having problems with theres.

I am sure there are other brands that are known for rock solid reliability, but I think Kimber is known for accuracy first, reliability second. I have had nothing but good luck with my Kimber, and other than the price, I'm not complaning:eek:

Kimber is a solid pistol, and they get a 10/10 from me.

As much as I love 1911s, I'd go w/ the HK USP line up of 45's ;)

There are also the MK 23, the Tactical, the Elite, and the Compact - get the one that feels best to you ;)

Hard chrome Colt Special Combat Government.
While mine's a two-tone, it has yet to have a hiccup and makes me a better shooter than anything else I've tried. I use it for USPSA all the time now, and retired my Springfield Loaded target to doorstop use.
I may yet win something shooting the SCG.
'Course, I am a known brand-fan.

Kimbers or Springfelds

I like Kimbers & Springfields. they're in the price range you're looking at. Get any Custom Shop Kimber. I have a Raptor II. Springfield, I'd get any 1911. Custom's seem to be out of your price range, otherwise I'd recommend the Professional or Operator.

Like your going to change what he wants. If you like highpoints so much you go buy one.
