I have one like that, a gift from my Dad. Believe it or not, its actually very reliable...

Of course there are much better .25 cal pistols out there. I also have a Beretta 950BS, and the Raven doesn't even compare to it.

Cool.

How do you browse gunbroker items that are in IL? I'm also in IL and it would be cool to be able to window shop without all the gas money!

Congratulations... and my sympathies too.

First time I joined a pistol range back in the '80's I believe it cost $60 for your first year membership and they GAVE you one of those Raven .25's. I didn't keep it long. Fired a box or two of standard ball ammo through it with no problems.

The Raven is a great little gun, but it should be shot to ensure reliability and then retired. The magazine springs aren't designed for extended use, but it's a fine little gun if you keep it loaded; however, if you load and unload it frequently, you may run into some trouble.

The gun definitely isn't worth a two-hour drive, though. If you're going to make the drive, you'd best fit in another purchase. The GP-100 is a great gun, but in a 6-inch configuration you'd be better off with a good used Security-Six. (I don't know why people like mid-weight .357s with all the weight in the barrel, but I'd pick a good Security-Six or S&W 66 if I wanted a gun that could pick up and follow a moving target.)

Getting back to the Ravens, most worked, but I'd try the gun before plunking down my money. Some had problems, and whenever I see used ones in great condition, I get a little suspicious. I have a Davis P32 that looks great and has the same design as the Raven. The trouble is, it won't eat more than three shots before jamming. I wouldn't sell it without full disclosure, but other people might. I'd hate to see you spend $72 plus $20 plus whatever transfer fees you have, only to end up with a klunker. Two magazines indicates they might have had a problem and tried to fix it by trying a new one. Just a thought.

Jennings J-22, a nice little pistol that works.

I'm just going to have him ship the thing....i would have to drive there twice...once to pay and a second time after the wait period....totaling 10 hours on the road....not gonna happen......it's true what they say" idle hands are the devils workshop" .... if i was working and laid off due to all the snow this never would have happened.....now i'm going out at 3 am to shovel and salt for $12 cash with a guy that has a plow service to pay for this thing...

I own 2 and my nephew has one I gave him. We only put about 3 or 4 magazines through them a few times a year. All three have been very reliable. Mine are the MP25's and his is the earlier P25.

The Raven is an excellent pistol especially for the money. I bought one of these pearl handled beauties for my wife about ten years ago for $60 brand new OTD. It is accurate as all get out and has NEVER malfunctioned. I wish it was just a tad bigger with more capacity.

Evan, my thoughs exactly, but winning an auction is worth the extra costs. I went to Bud's gun shop to get a Mossberg 930spx and ended up getting a Beretta 87 Target instead. I am too impatient to wait for something, usually, but I did wait 19 weeks to have an STI Custom Shop pistol made. How do you search for a GP100 and find a Raven .25?
