I walked into one of the local gun stores today "just to look around........." and I walked out with a Kimber Ultra CDP II (it forced itself on me). Now this is the first .45 I have ever owned. Before I take it to the local gravel pit I plan on takeing it apart, cleaning it & fresh oil. I have 150 rds. of "white box" Winchester to start the break in with. Seeing as though I paid more for this pistol than I have for any of my other pistols and this being my first experience with a Kimber I want to make sure that I am doing this break in right. Am I???? Please give me any input that you think I might need.

That's what happend to me back in the 50's............back when gun were just a bit cheaper and there was a lot less paperwork.

Yes, a thorough cleaning and inspection is warranted.

Now, take that cleaning kit with you to the gravel pit. Throw a few mags through it. Clean it on the tailgate of your truck. Then shoot it a bunch more. Take it home and clean it. Sit on the couch watching TV and dry fire at the news guy on TV. Eyes open, eyes closed. Dry fire. Learn that trigger. Don't let the slide fall on an empty chamber. Call your buddies and have them guess what you've purchased...

It goes with me everytime.............my usual trip to the "range" incluses 2 - 3 rifles & 2 - 3 handguns. I "cycle" them thru, with the hunting rifles it's 3 rounds cool and clean. The pistols get a few more rounds before cleaning.

You will be very happy with the Kimber. I have the TLE ll Model best .45 I've ever shot. Dependeble, and accurate beyond any .45 I've ever fired. Your break-in sounds fine. I have used same ammo and hydra shocks both given excellent performance.

For safety's sake after firing, just be sure to alert other shooters around you by yelling "Kiiiiiiiimmmmmmmbeeeeerrrrrrr...".

Nice! I have a flock of 45's and am jealous.

Don't blame the gun if it doesn't like that ammo. I've had a lot of problems with it myself. I usually break a new gun in using a wide assortment but that's no rule.

mine was an Thompson, and it was so "special" that it got sold a year later.
