I have a Glock 43 talo edition and a Springfield XD 40 subcompact mod. 2 that i am wanting to trade for a kimber 1911. i have received an offer for a Para Black ops 1911 and a kimber ultra carry II with crimson trace grips or a Kimber Custom CDP II have received offers for my two on one of those. can anyone tell me if this is a good trade or what would be fair.

I've been in the buy sell trade game here locally for a number of years now and I'm getting pretty good at it & I have a good reputation going in the local circles I run. everybody's opinion of a good deal differs with their preferences for one thing or another. generally If You're Happy and the other party is happy with the trade deal than most people consider it a good trade. I base my trades on a square deal $ wise. find out what your guns are worth then find out how much each of the guns are worth you're being offered and see if it's a square deal. if not change the deal accordingly with $, ammo & accessories to square the deal so both parties are happy. Also, read all the reviews and watch all the videos on the guns you're thinking about trading for on YouTube to help you make a decision one way or the other.

I would also check with :
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com

I found the Articles and reviews quite helpful and right on target. when I'm researching gun videos on YouTube I prefer Videos from :

sootch00
Colion Noir
Hickok45
Nut-n-fancy
Military arms channelchannel

these are my go-to video sources I subscribe to on YouTube, but I Peruse any other decent videos I can find on whatever I'm researching as well. I hope this helps ...

The kimber custom CDP ll is the most expensive gun on that list and will hold more value by a long-shot compared to the others. If you would ever want to trade again the kimber cdp would be the best bait. I have to admit though I have a soft spot for 1911's done right. The para black ops in double stack is known for reliability problems, but the single stack version is solid. I don't trust 1911's shorter than commander length for defending my life, they can be finicky and demand higher maintenance with springs being replaced more often. I've had a couple officer sized 1911's and all were noticeably less reliable than full size and commander length models. Other than that I totally agree with what gsbuickman posted. The fairness of the deal is on you

Given the choices I would take the Kimber CDP. I tend to stay away from Kimbers though or any 1911 with a 3" barrel.

Yeah I would trade a Glock 43 and a SA XD40 Mod.2 for a Kimber Custom CDP II any day of the week.

I own a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II and I used to own a Para Slim Hawg - notice that I said used to.

I liked the Para but mine was and older model with their old power extractor that's a MIM part that broke and was replaced with a traditional extractor. It was a great gun overall but I wouldn't recommend any gun that has any MIM parts in the critical areas like the trigger, safety, extraction, or ejection areas of the gun.

My Ultra Crimson Carry II has never failed, no parts have ever broken and I've put more rounds through it than I did the Para. The Para had a match barrel and I got slightly better groups with it but the Kimber is no slouch either. Both are short barrelled but the Kimber was more controllable.

The bottom line is I trusted my Kimber far more than my Para so I sold the Para and kept the Kimber.

I own a Kimber CDP II. I wouldn't make this trade. Noone needs a Kimber or Para. Is the Kimber used? Then he'll let you shoot it first? No range at that shop? I'd pass. Make sure it works if it's used.

The CDP is the best choice of what you listed. But I'd rather own a Colt, CZ, DW etc.etc.
