I got this Rock River new but with out a box at a gun show it was unfired The guy bought it a few years back and lost the box. It has a 20" barrel forward and .95 under the hand guard. He could not remember the modle so could some one help ID this rifle. "]http://[/URL]
It looks like it has vaguely the same setup as their coyote rifles, with the free float handguard, low profile front gas block, and heavy barrel (although that would be the first ss I know of). I know the early coyote carbine came without the enlarged trigger guard, this might be an early coyote rifle with some custom parts added...?
It could also just be a RR lower. The furniture is not right for any of their current varmint/target models. Are there any markings on the upper or barrel?
doesnt look like the upper matches the lower and RRs are pretty tight upper to lower fit. If you have a single stage trigger instead of a RR double stage you may have picked up an franken-AR. I would pull the bolt out and inspect the gas rings to see how new it is. You can also loosen the gas block and slide it forward to see what is built up under it or even a wetted white pipe cleaner in the gas tube. Not sure if you put that scope on there or not but if it came with the scope and it is zero'ed the gun isnt "new" . Everyone's gun at the gun show is brand new or low round count. Chances are that gun you bought will shoot lights out so dont loose sleep over it.
