the markings on the top of the receiver are the chrysanthemum which was the symbol of the emperor of Japan followed by the markings below that , 3, 10, 8, type(translates to type 38) which is the model number. on the side the 4 interlocked circles is a symbol that denoted the arsenal where it was built. in this case it was either made in the Kokura Arsenal or Koishikawa Arsenal as both shared that mark. there is one marking that we are missing which should be located near the serial number which denotes the series and would allow us to make an estimate of what year it was made. without a full length picture we cant make any guess as to the originality, condition, or value of that rifle.
