Your Model 19-2 Combat Masterpiece was manufactured in 1968.

The Doc:
I think you have a Spanish copy of a S&W.
That Serial number dates to circa 1938-1940.
The .32 S&W Long CTG was chambered in the I frame pre-war. A limited number of fixed sight K frame .32 Military & Police guns were made between 1948 & 1950 with an S or C prefix to the serial number.
I can't see a S&W monogram in your pics.
The grips are not S&W grips.
If a S&W it has been refinished - the hamemr and trigger should be case hardened, not blued.

That being said, S&W did make around ninety four .32 S&W long chambered, adjustable sight K32 Hand Ejector First Model guns between 1936 & 1941 in the serial range 653388 to 682207. Your gun does fall into that range. If it is a S&W then it may be the only pre-war .32 Long fixed sight K frame ever manufactured. I suggest you take some good quality pics, including any markings (check under the barrel, take off the grips and look at the frame flats, also in the cylinder yoke cut out), then post a new thread in the firearms research sub forum. If verified as original by a factory letter, even with the rust it may be worth a pretty penny to a collector. One of the post war guns may be worth around $500 in fair condition. A one of a kind prewar will probably be worth more.
Don't get your hopes up though, its probably a fake.

Thank you Radagast, this revolver was bought by a friend and I had my doubts about its origin and authenticity, therefore I uploaded the pictures here.

Thanks again,

Doc.

Hello - I have a buddy of mine that would like to know when his Smithy was made. Serial number is BDUxxxx.

It's a blued, 1 7/8 barrel, J-frame, 5-shot, pre-lock, .38spl.

Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Radagast usually answers these requests, but I'll give it a shot as he doesn't seem to be around right now.

Your buddys J-Frame was made April 1989.

That's the weird thing. There's nothing inside of the frame crane cut. That's the first place I looked when my buddy gave it to me to research.

It's not unknown for S&W to forget the model number stamping, or to stamp the wrong model number. If it has an external hammer then its a Model 36 Chiefs Special. If marked airweight on the barrel then a model 37 Chiefs Secial Airweight. If the hammer is shrouded, with only the tip exposed then its a Model 38 Bodyguard.

I just purchased a Model 19-6 and can't seem to find much info on that variation, so if anyone has any info on it, I would really appreciate it.

a) .357 Mag
b) 4" Barrel
c) Square Grips
d) 6 Shots
e) Adjustable sights
f) SN: BHM 30xx
g) 19-6

It was reimported by CAI recently after being used as a foreign police service pistol (possibly S. American, but I'm not sure).

Thanks!

Telekinesis: 1991. The Standard catalog of S&W doesn't list any export contracts other than a special fixed sight version for Peru.

Birthday request for: Model 10-5 .38 special by S&W. Five inch barrel, 6 shot, square but, pinned and tapered barrel and beautiful bluing!
S# is D545xxx.

Thanks guys!

critter;
Your Model 10-5 .38 Military & Police was manufactured in 1973 or 1974. Serial range for those years was D5100001 to D659901, so 1973 seems likely.

Just picked this up this weekend and wanted to find out when it was made. Thanks!

Your Model 57-1 41 Magnum Target dates to the period 1982 to 1986. The serial range for that period was N900000 to N97xxxx. My guess is your gun was manufactured and serial numbered closer tro 1982, but did not ship until 1986, hence the 8/86 date on the grips. Potentially the grips are off a different gun, so it may have shipped earlier.
I'm sorry I can't give a better answer than that. The 57-1 was introduced in 1982 & the nickel finish was deleted in 1986, so I have no other clues to refine the answer.
