If gun control isn't truly a "liberal" thing, that what is it?

Gun control is a form of Fascism.

Never was gun control placed to "reduce crime". During the Civil War, or the War of Northern Aggression, the first gun laws were placed in New York in order to prevent potential Confederate revolutionaries from rising. The year was 1862, the year that the yanks suffered the most defeats and were on the verge of losing the war.

Doesn't that sound fishy to anybody? Why were they so afraid of imaginary Confederate revolutionaries? Why were they so afraid of losing the war?

Hint: What else was happening in the world at that same time? Something was happening on an overwhelming scale in another part of the world, a revolution in a faraway country that spread with fury never seen before.
Surely the yanks would fear the spirit of revolution sweeping here. Thus, gun control was a "preventive measure".

Get it?

In the "War of Northern Aggression" it was the South which fired the first shots. It may be called the War of Northern Burning and Pillaging though. Prior to and during the Civil War New York had many citizens whose livelihoods depended on slavery, whether they be financiers who loaned money to plantation owners, commodities traders who profited from agricultural products from the South, ship-owners who shipped those goods, etc. So the state of New York had good reason to be concerned about Confederate insurgents causing problems with the war effort.
