If James Bond were an american...

An Mp7 in a shoulder holster, an FMG-9 in the back pocket
and a Semmerling .45 in his underpants.

(....or maybe a miniature M-60?)

of course he´d be dressed like a rich redneck
and have a mullet haircut :)

.. or maybe he would carry very well concealed
weapons of mass destruction.....
...and not be able to find them when need arises :)

Since he would have his choice, he might still use the 3 guns which he used by choice in the original book "Casino Royale":
1. A pre-1950 Beretta .25acp without the grip panels for under the tuxedo.
2. A "sawn-off barrel .38 revolver" for under the pillow at night.
3. A .45 semi-auto in the Bentley's glove box.
It wasn't until the 6th book (Dr. No) that Bond was forced to hand over his Beretta .25 (which at that time he said he had carried for 15 years) and was mandated to carry a .32 PPK and a .38 AirWeight (as a heavy backup).

The Semmerling LM-4 45 was purchased in fair number by an unspecified government agency. These were equipped with threaded barrels, and there was supposedly a semiauto variant that only was made for the US government.

This is the first I have heard of a "semi-auto variant" of the Semmerling LM-4. What mysterious force would have been used to move the barrel forward? I highly doubt such a gun exists, and if it did, it most likely failed in testing.

As far as James Bond's gun - I would say a Boberg XR10 (10mm Auto) - when it comes out. Think of 700 FPE in the pocket. Of course, I am biased.;)

Rohrbaugh for deep concealment (out of policy of course) and a Glock 22 like everyone else so they could all use the same ammo and mags and they got the best deal on them.

He'd still carry a Walther. Bond is a man of class and sophistication, and his firearm needs to match his tux -- something the Walther has done perfectly for decades.

First off, Felix Leiter esp as portrayed by Jack Lord, was damn cool. I picture a .38 snub nose revolver. Or perhaps Leiter's attitude would be like Sam's in the movie Ronin: "eh, it's a tool box, just select the right tool for the job," with a partiality for the 1911.

Then there's the father of the O.S.S., "Wild Bill" Donovan. Colt .45 ACP all the way IMO.

A Hi-point..

LOL

No, If 007 were in the CIA and not the SIS/MI6, he would use either a HK SOCOM .45acp compact pistol or maybe a FNH 5.7mm spec ops pistol like Sam Fisher(crack NSA agent) in the Tom Clancy Splinter Cell novels. Fisher's 5.7mm pistol has all sorts of doo-dads, :p.

Something to live up to the Bond mystique...maybe the SW99 or M&P 9 or Kahr PM9 or an American made Beretta, or maybe a SIG 232 or 239, or if he's truely an American spy, maybe a Glock 36 or Colt Defender or Kahr 45

The ASP is the answer

In the newer James Bond novels, (starting in Role of Honor) he is already carrying an American gun, one of these...

Still, that doesn't make him an American, though.

as bannockburn says, something sterile. i'd say something smersh or spetznaz cooked up.
