If James Bond were an american...

it might have MIM parts on it but i doubt it would have a built in lock....

come to think of it, we have Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis, so who needs a James Bond?..LOL...

"do you expect me to talk"? "no Mr. Bond, i expect you to die"...

Someone may have said it and I missed it. But in Dr. No Bond has to give up his much loved Beretta in .25acp. "Q" gives a Walther PPK in .32 and a S&W Centennial in .38. Two excellent choices in the 1960s.

Ian Fleming had him carry a 1911 quite a bit.

He'd carry a Kahr today.

Amercian equivalent of Bond isn't Jack Bower. Jack Bower isn't anything special he's just a passing fad.

The American equivalent of Bond is Indiana Jones and he carried a .455 Eley Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector Mark II Model 1917, a trilby and a bullwhip.

/Jones also has a Colt Pocket Model 1903 as a backup gun.

Actually, at one time, Ian Fleming owned a Colt Official Police. So Bond's creator wouldn't have been any stranger to wheelguns. Still, I'll stay with my amended choice and say that an American Bond would carry a Walther PPS.

In the first Bond book the first gun Bond has is a Colt Police Positive with the barrel cut to two inches. He has it under his pillow.

No, Albatross--007 wore a trilby in Goldfinger, Indy wore a fedora--big difference. Say that one some boards, especially one frequented by a few THR members, and you're gonna get served a knuckleburger...

Besides, Chuck Norris checks his closet every night for Fred Thompson.:p

Every shooter in the movies these days carried either a Glock, HK or Sig. If they are a cop, they might carry an S&W auto and if they are a cool bad guy, they might carry a 1911.

So I'd say Jimmy Bond probably gets a Sig P239, but I'd give him a Kahr K-40 with either an S&W 442 or Kahr MK9 as a BUG.

Diamondback6 - I bow to your greater knowledge.

Fedora it most certainly is.

/Jones stomps Norris, Bower and Bond into the ground.
//Don't know about ol' Fred though, have to wait and see if the upcoming geriatric Jones movies are a flop or not.

I gotta admit, Jason Bourne/David Webb, is really the American incarnation of a modern James bond.
As said before, he wouldn't carry anything.

Now a cold war American James Bond would carry a cut down Nagant with a detachable suppressor.

Jason Bourne/David Webb isn't the American Bond. He's Captain America.

And for that, I love the character - Too skilled to need to kill unless facing another almost superhuman opponent, with a never quit attitude and resourcefulness beyond match.

How do you know all this? I was just watching the first movie and paused it to see what gun he had. I figured it was a Model 10 or M&P. Whatever was around then. He also had some kind of 1911 later on the ship.

Also, I could have sworn that I saw in his first shootout in the bar the gun changed back and forth between a revolver and an auto.

James Bond was one of the inspirations for Indiana Jones. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas were sitting in Hawaii after the first Star Wars and Spielberg said he always wanted to do a James Bond movie. George Lucas said "I've got that beat" and showed him his idea for Indiana Jones.

I love Indiana Jones. Very excited for the new movie.

common, its the good ol' US of A i mean common... 1911 only for primary with CTC laser grips, or a colt/smith snubbie that must be ether .357mag or .44mag. and he must drive a muscle car like a hemi cuda, corvette Z06, boss302 stang or ss396 camaro. nothing but

James Bond as an American? I think I agree with "DougDubya". He would carry the same guns that Mack Bolan did. However Doug, Mack Bolan did not carry an IMI .44 Magnum, He carried the .44 Automag handgun which utilized .308 shells cut down to fit a .44 caliber bullet ( I think). The 93-R & maye the Atchisson shotgun if the shtf.

He carries the DE now that the Automag has been discontinued.

I tried to get him to carry the Wildley in .44 Automag, but it was just for one book. :(

If James Bond were an american...
If James Bond were an American the movies would never have been made because Hollyweird wouldn't want to be accused of supporting jingoistic hegemony :neener:

Seriously though, in the early 60s when the series started I'm betting an American bond would be packing a Colt Detective Special (or a S&W J-Frame) in .38spec
