Which would it be? which is worth the most?

1.Winchester model 94. Mint condition. One scratch on the butt of
stock.Lever action, chambered in .30-.30, top eject with adjustable sights.
This is pre 1964, made with all steel parts.

2.Remington 1100 DU edition. gas operated.Full Choke. Never shot. won at a Ducks Unlimited fundraiser and it is a limited production engraved shotgun, cannot buy it in stores. Takes 23/4" to 3" shells.

3.M1 is manufactured by Winchester. it has an S&K scope mount
that can easily be taken off. This gun has probably seen some field time in
combat and was later turned in, sent to Augusta Armory and completely
cleaned. They usually replace any high friction pieces like the barrel,
bolt, or action but I cannot be sure. The gun was cleaned and
refurbished back in the 70's and has not been shot since.

I have one of the three offered to me in a trade for non-gun stuff. I was wondering which would be the best deal and what would be the best as far as resale in the near future or maybe even possibly keep it.

value is truly in the eyes of the beholder.

everybody will have a different response to your question depending on THEIR preferences.

without knowing how much is being asked for the guns ...

if you're a winchester collector OR a patient investor, then #1.

if you're a diehard du member and have a hankering for an engraved Remington 1100, then #2.

if you're into military rifles, then #3.

which are you?

Me, I like to shoot all my toys (more into functionality than anything else). Safe queens tend to get rotated out of my collection. So that rules out #1. I'm not much of a wing-shooter anymore (archery whitetail is my thing), so that rules out #2.

Guess it's #3 for me.

Not Easy

Not an easy choice for me, but . . .

Since I already have a levergun in .30-30, and since I don't already have an M1 (or anything in that calibre family), and since I "need" a good big game rifle, my one personal choice would be the M1.

And then I would go to the wife and beg for money and pay cash for the levergun.

:D

The M1 is a carbine and has been drilled for a scope mount....looks like the 30-30 is going to be the one.

Like many have said, its in the eyes of the beholder. And the market.

All i can say is that everyone that i've talked to would like an 1100 regardless of what it is.

The winchester may be hard to sell because of what it is. you might have a hard time finding a buyer for that kind of weapon.

The M1, i have no idea.

I dont know much about guns but i do know about selling. i just sold an Ibanez Destoyer and a Randall amp. Ya gotta watch the market.

If the M1 was a Garand and not a carbine... and it wasn't drilled, that'd make it a no-brainer.

But being that it is a carbine and it is drilled, a mint condition pre-64 Model 94 would be a pretty sweet gun to have.

I would take the M1 because I would rather have a Marlin if I wanted a .30-30 lever gun.

Wait -- wait -- a CARBINE?

A real live M1 Carbine?

Drilled or not, as long as it's functional and not damaged by the mod, I'll take that carbine.

One condition: must be mil-spec, not post-war "improved" edition. Mil-spec would include Auto Ordnance (Kahr) version in current production.

This guy actually wants to sell/trade an M1 Carbine?

Hmmm?

Tough call. I think I'd take the 94, myself. I have a real fondness for the .30-30 and keep trying to steal Archerandshooter's. For some reason, he'll only LEND it to me.:D:neener:

Make it another vote for the carbine! I love them as utility guns, not to mention the value as a collectable. I would think, tho, it would be a shooter from your description.

The carbine shouldn't be a big deal. It looks like the rear sight was drifted out to make way for the scope mount. Drift the mount out, put in a replacement rear sight and go shooting! If the body of the receiver hasn't been drilled, it should hold its value.

sure is nice to have THR back up again

2.Remington 1100 DU edition. gas operated.Full Choke. Never shot. won at a Ducks Unlimited fundraiser and it is a limited production engraved shotgun, cannot buy it in stores. Takes 23/4" to 3" shells.

Wow, Remington made a Democratic Underground Edition??????

Who'd a thunk it?

Don't think I want that one, although some board members might.

and yes, I'm kidding...

Win 94

Once again value is in the beholder's eye. My wife's grandfather has a mint M 94 in 30-30, it will be given to one of his grandsons one day. I have taken it out in the field when my 30-06 was out of commission & i loved it. I personally wouldn't have a use with the others. To me it would be more of a sentimental/practicality decision.

PS, That is a very nice pic of the 94!

My $0.02:

I would snag the Carbine. Based on your photo it has not been permanently altered. The original rear sight was removed from the dovetail and the S&K mount was installed in its place. It should be easy to replace with an original sight.

1) Winchester M1 carbine. WRA M1s are hard to find and pricey.
2) Winchester 94. It would be easier to get another one of these down the road.

Actually, if the prices were right, I'd try darned hard to get both of the above!

3) The shotgun
