So I have been pondering this idea lets say you had to choose only one rifle or shotgun to use for everything.
This is the weapon you would have to use for-
home defense
going hunting
with you when backpacking
getting lost in the wilderness
weapon you would have to use if shtf situation
weapon if society collapses
any other situations
What would you choose?
I personally as of right now would choose a marlin1894 stainless steel 357/38.
This is because it is only 6.5lbs about 34in length easier to carry on a forever basis, holds 10 rounds so in case the first one wasnt enough. The rounds are plentiful more so than 44(from all the revolvers), they pack a good enough punch with the 357 to take down anything if placed right within 25 yards (cant say this with a 22). Them being pistol rounds you can carry more than say a 308 or 223. Since you can swap for 38 you can use a lighter round for smaller game like squirrel or bird to not have obliterated it like a 223 would, making eating it difficult, but can hunt deer with it effectively up to max 150 yrds granted.
In a firefight situation since its lever you will try and make each round count so wont waste ammo, which the guy with the ak will regret when he realizes the ammo on him has just been exhausted, it can hold 10 in gun which is decent or at least better than 1 or 5.
Lever actions won the west so you know its reliable, stainless steel is weather resistant, so dont need to worry about rusting in a couple years as much, the gun is easy to take apart and clean. To switch between calibers just need to give a good barrel cleaning.
What are others choices for if god told you, you may only have and use one rifle or shotgun for everything you may get thrown into?
