This was never intended to be a SHTF senario. I was just saying that for the type of shooting I do with a rifle, the AR-15 makes the most sense for a "do all" rifle.
I don't really hunt at all anymore and the only animals I might kill are pests, starlings, English sparrows, mice etc., so the fact that an .223 won't take down a polar bear doesn't faze me one bit.
Anyone that thinks that the .223 won't kill a man is a fool. It caused devistaion to the victims of the D.C. sniper and most died quickly.
