For me it'd have to be the Ruger SP101.. Versatile, concealable, reliable, & powerful.

Having pondered this, I am tossing between sentiment/nostalgia and realism. For the former, there is my first-ever S&W - my 625-7 MG (top, below) in .45 Colt. It is shown with the LN -6 I later obtained (bottom, below) - which is my wood's stomper/plinker these days.



I know things may one day change - and home reloading may become '... a thing of the past'. In that case, a more sane approach - for continued plinking enjoyment - and a modicum of home protection - then a .38/.357M or .22 may be a more intelligent choice. Then, one of the below choices, my 4" 617 or 4" 627 Pro, both bought last year, may be a better choice. I guess the constraints might be important... ie, will plinkers, only, be allowed? Is homebrew ammo to continue?



I have a few other choices. I hate to see my other 'children' languishing in exile somewhere. This is tough. It is 'Earth Day'... perhaps I'll go downstairs and make more ammo... This selection process is difficult. (TIC) I have it on good authority that some old growth tropical hardwoods were clearcut by child labor to produce those grips - and I chose seal skin for the holster - with a polar bear fur liner, of course. Note the mildew my deck has grown since winter - my contribution to 'green' Earth for the day.
