1. Marlin 39A Mountie:

2. Winchester 9422M:

3. Ruger 1022 (modded), it continues to evolve:

But I could be persuaded to nominate my old Winchester Model 61 pump:

Edit to add this, the Single Six convertible, it was purchased used at a gun show many years ago. I was kinda poor and kept circling by the table/booth it was at, eyeing it to death but not touching it because it was out of my price range. Several times I passed by each time looking at it until right at closing the old fella jumps up and asks me if I am just go to eye it to death or am I going to take it home or something like that, perhaps to colorful for this forum! I told him I did not have enough money and he asked me how much I had and I told him and he said SOLD! We made the deal and as I left he said, with a wink, "son, that is the best Single Six ever and you just made a heck of a deal!" :) Well, he was true to his word, it is wonderful and I will never part with it.

1) Springfield M1922- most accurate Ive ever owned, although my Romanian M69 is close

2) Mossberg M151m- cool looking and accurate, but less reliable than my M69

3)Stainless Marlin M70- great backwoods rifle, but so is the M69

So, I guess if I could only have ONE, it would be the M69-

What's he want for it?...............:D
He is a collector, George. As am I . We suffer from the same mental illness. We have lots of N.I.B. guns that we never shoot. Some of them are quite valuable, like my C-96 and my 68 T series Hi-Power, both of which have never been fired after leaving the factory. And some, like this 541T which has only moderate value.....but its NEW! Unfired!

I'm drooling......now.....somebody hand me a paper towel...

Have a CZ455---all the rest are 10/22's-------have been looking at the little Browning take down auto's lately but not spending that kind of money on anything until the economy gets better-----have money saved up but might need it for rent, food or a car payment--haven't had to yet but you never know.

  • Shot a Rem 40x in high school
  • Win 61, probably the first firearm I ever fired - own
  • 10/22’s by the dozen - own
  • CMP Mossberg 144 - own
  • Marlin 39 the defacto lever
  • Browning bottom eject 22 auto
  • CMP Win 52 - own
  • CZ Scout - daughter owns
  • Springfield 1922
  • Tikka
  • Begara
  • Anny
  • AR conversion
  • Really any are fun!

I would go:
  • Win 52 sporter, though I would love the Anny (may still get one)
  • Marlin 39
  • Win 61....with slam firing, it will beat any auto, and a sentimental favorite....

As I open my gun fund envelope where all those lonely Benjamins reside..............;)

Had 541T HB. Had 64 sporter and target.
1022 target build.
No love of levers.
Shot a lot of rigs over the yrs that friends and fam had.

Bolt .22 from across the pond and an old classic pistol made here.

Good enough.

Easy enough:

1.) Utility pick: 10/22 platform because it can do lots of stuff. Easy to find parts for, cheap, can be treated like a power tool and just used.

2.) Sporter: Already have a Cooper M57 in a glass bedded laminate stock, so that base is covered for a very very accurate fun to shoot sporting rimfire for small game.

3.) Target Rifle: Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Ravage in their adjustable stock. That would replace my Kimber M82 Govt’ only to gain magazine feeding.

Well, I’ll keep me Browning 22 Auto, my CZ 452, the one with the threaded barrel and action, but the third is a problem. I like my 77/22, 10/22, 521T, but I’ve always wanted a Winchester 52 too!

Only have and need one - a Kimber (Yonkers) 82 Custom Classic with Leupold glass. A beautiful rifle that quietly disappeared from production years ago - I guess that price point played a role.

22 LR- Remington 572
22 Mag- So many that I like but I guess it’s the Remington 597M I already own.
597 or 10/22 for tinkering and fun.

Why do you ask the impossible. Shame on you. Just thinking about it made my smart watch buzz with the message “your stress level seems unusually high, would you like some recommended breathing exercises”.

I would guess I would keep the 10/22, Mossberg 46BT, and a CZ455.

My ONLY THREE of my .22 rifles would be:

1st Marlin M39-A Mountie .22 s,l,lr
2nd Remington Nylon 66 .22 lr
3rd Taurus M72 pump, 16.5" barrel, .22 WMR

I have accumulated .22 rifles as purchases, as gifts, as security for loans to relatives who later said oh keep it. Occassionaly I pick up abused pawnshop/gunshop orphans (Marlin M60, Nylon 66, AR-7) in the $50 to $80 range for rehabilitation as winter projects.

Nightlord40K: "So, I guess if I could only have ONE, it would be the M69-"

I bought an M69 Romanian Army Trainer Sep 2000 at a gunshop for 69.95 with a Taiwan magazine. Mine shoots so well that its cosmetic challenges (ComBloc army training rifle finished as badly as the typical ComBloc SKS or Mosin) means I can take it to the mountain or to the range and use it without fretting about the finish.

If I had ONLY ONE the M69 it would be more than adequate for my .22 rifle needs.

I consider the M69 a historical collectible too.

"In 1968 The Soviet Union sent tanks into Czechoslovakia to put down a reform movement called the Prague Spring. The Romanian government sought to generate popular enthusiasm by opposing the Soviet crackdown and encouraging the population to join the paramilitary Patriotic Guards to protect the country. Hundreds of thousands, men and women, joined and every community and factory had its own Patriotic Guards unit. The Romanian military had to have some means of teaching all these people how to shoot and the M69 is what they came up with."

from Kurt M., "Gun Review: Romanian M69 Bolt Action .22 Rifle – Content Contest", The Truth About Guns, 25 Apr 2017.
https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/gun-review-romanian-m69-bolt-action-22-rifle-content-contest/

In 1989 the Communist Government of Romania called on the Patriotic Guards to put down a popular revolt. The Patriotic Guards joined the people against the government. Is that a history or not?

CZ455 - Barrels in: .22 WMR and .17HMR;
Rem 581 .22 LR;
Remington 504, .22LR

I tend to shoot the 455 with the .17 HMR barrel more often than the other rimfires these days. The 581 is (un-recognizable from it's original $50 form), sporting a stainless Shilen custom barrel and Fajen thumbhole stock (originally a blank for an Eley varmint rifle). All rifles shown have had accurizing improvements because I can! I didn't choose to show my Ruger 10-22 that has had numerous improvements that don't show much, except for the Shilen bull-barrel. It's surprised a lot of folks at target ranges, both in Maine and Florida over the years.

Note: Corrected error CZ 455 (not 452). Duh!

I couldn't own just three.

Ruger 10/22
Marlin 39A
Remington 572
Ruger American Rimfire bolt

It would be those four at a minimum.

I don't own as many as some here but I've got a selection. Three Ruger 10/22 carbines alone.
