If you had $300 dollars to spend...

I recommend that the KelTec simply be the pocket back-up gun. All it has to do is get through 6-12 shots. If it can do that, then it's fulfilled its duty.

But, it shouldn't be considered a primary. I know of people who do use them for primaries, but I'm just not that trusting.

Maybe I'm just a Glock snob :what:

Seriously, though, if you were to insist that the recommendation had to be another gun, then I'd recommend you purchase another XD40SC. That way, if something happens to the first (breakage, confiscation, etc), you have a spare and all your gear works with it.

$300?

Another gun belt.
Don't want to wear the same one two days in a row...let them breath for a day & dry out

Two holsters for your largest / primary carry.
One IWB and one OWB. A quality shoulder holster might be in order, too.

Holster for your SW638.
It needs love too. Maybe an ankle holster or a nice OWB.

LCP or PF9....

LCP you'll find yourself carrying 100% of the time in the summer.

PF9 you'll find yourself carrying 80% more often after the new wears off carrying concealed.

I carried my 9c everywhere, but it's gets old trying to ride a bike or play baseball in the yard with it on your side. Eventually you'll find dressing around the gun gets old. I switched to the LCP I haven't walked outside the house without it since.
I love the PF9 but haven't bought one yet, I've got my eye on one the owner can't shoot for crap but I can. He'll decide to sell it soon enough. :)

Thanks for all the advice guys. Since I started this thread I spent about 150 on ammo for the XD and the j frame. I have been looking into the various holsters suggested. I'm going to buy a K holster for the XD and I'm going to order some kydex to try and make my own OWB holster. be on the look out for Madwell design's. Again thanks for all the replies.

I see no reason why the M638 can't be your backup carried in your front pocket. I carry a J frame as a primary SD handgun although like I said in my other post, sometimes you need a very small gun so I bought a Kel-Tec P-32...

If I were looking for ways to spend it I wouldn't. Wait until something catches your eye.

If I had $300 to spend I'd buy a hunt/fish combo license, a couple deer tags, my duck stamps, a migratory bird stamp, and some ammo. If there was any left after that I'd probably buy some socks. :)
