If you only had a .22 Magnum

'Course Jim Cirillo had a perp get a face full of .38 LRNs, a couple of which came out when he blew his nose.
Scary thought. If someone shot me in the face and I was still standing the last thing I'd want to do is blow my nose. I'd be afraid of what else may come out:eek:

What kind of problems are you having with your AMT II? I've got one and with the right ammo & lub, no problems?

It used to jam alot, but I worked on the magazines a bit, and it seems better. Now, it's problem is light strikes. I am trying to track down a spring set for it. And every now and then, it pulls a double feed trick.

It does prefer Winchester Super X, and does okay with CCI as well.

When it decides to run, it runs great! Fast action, accurate, and guaranteed to get questions and comments!

(It is an original Irwindale, CA model, btw)

"In all honesty, if some one is seriously deranged and out to chop someone up with a machete at all costs (as the BG you described), you can hit them with a 12 gauge and it might not immediately stop them." -Shane

Oh contraire...there is a shot with a 12 guage that will stop ANYONE as long as the placement is correct. It is called #4 shot in a 12 guage...aimed at the pelvic triangle...(draw a triangle from your two hip bones down to your sack)....Any shot in that general area is capable of folding a man in half by nature of essentially shattering the bone structure that connects your torso to your legs. Even a man hopped up on PCP will be unable to advance on you....stand....or walk....Like I said...they will most likely fold in half...and probably bleed out.

Kinda gruesome...but hey...it is a gamble coming into my house uninvited, or unannounced.:fire:

.22 mag NAA mini-revolver

I carry one of these little 1 1/8" barreled beasts on an almost daily basis. I sure would not want to step in front of one of these rounds at close range.

I use CCI Maxi-Mag + V's in mine. They're rated at over 1,000 FPS, even out of a short barreled mini.

At short range (5 yards or less) I can get all five quick shots into a 8" paper plate, which is about the size of the average perp's head.

The muzzle flash and blast from a short barrel .22 MRF is VERY intense! After the first shot in the dark, neither you nor the bad guy is gonna see or hear anything!

Aguilla (sp?) is coming out with a hot .22wmr that will be called "Golliath". I expect velocities will run between 2500 and 2800 fps.

Gotta agree with Herb about the muzzle flash/blast,my only .22 Mag. pistol is also an NAA Mini with a 1 1/8" barrel. Heh with CCI Maxi Mag Vs it should toast the BG`s eyebrows right off! Fierce lil bugger at a TFL shoot I let one of the guys wives try it after she`d been shooting .357s and .40s and such. She laughed at it at first, said it was cute etc. Then she fired one *LOUD* shot, turned and gave me a dirty look and punched me in the arm! :D I`ve been pretty impressed with the .22 Mag.,the only thing I`d be worried about for HD is that the otherwise more effective loads may not have as much penetration as you`d like. I had an Automag II and don't ever recall it jamming. Of course I only fed it Winchester .22 mags (about the only brand I could find that was loaded with the factory recommended ball powder). It was an impressive noisemaker, but little else. If you wanted to creme small animals, this caliber might be the ticket in a rifle. I see little use for it in a pistol or revolver. If you were to shoot somebody with it, the bullet would probably to through the first person leaving little more than a .22 hole and one pissed off perp.

No way....I think a 22lr or a 22 mag is going to make more of a dent in an attacker than some people seem to think.

Even if it doesnt kill them, which they definitely can, it will startle them, and scare the sh*t out of them....Giving you the oppurtunity to get out of there.

In the heat of the moment...a perp will not realized that he has "only" been hit with a 22...

Also I believe i read somwhere that 22mag and 223 have very similar balistics at short range. And I am sure that a 22 hollow point will make a more impressive wound channel that you might imagine.

I beleive that when it comes to personal defense...it doesnt matter what you are packing...as long as it makes a LOT of noise when you pull the trigger, it will be relatively effective in startling your attacker, changing his mind about messing with you, and giving you the chance to escape danger, saving your life.

Now when it comes to home defense...I say, the bigger the better.....But when it comes to concealed carry....you MUST stay concealed...and if that means a tiny pistol, then so be it....it still beats a can of pepper spray.
