If you were called to defend your town...

I'd probably just do what I was trained to do and carry what I was trained to carry - no more no less. I live far outside of the city to where I would just patrol a ABGD range of area from my farm.

I'd have to sit it out...

Immigrants can't have guns anymore in WA State without licenses the state can't issue...

Of course, in a "poop in turbine" situation my neighbors would probably say, "that guys lived here his whole life, he's one of us"

;);)

Is the minigun taken aready??:uhoh:

In a fictional scenario, urban enviroment I would go with a suppressed bolt action 22lr, (or any other small caliber subsonic round) could come in handy, quiet, you could stay hidden for quite some time, as a sidearm maybe a Walther p38 silenced.

Out in the bush I would probably go with any highpowered suppressed bolt action hunting rifle, .308 or less powerful, and keep my distance. Or maybe one of those SSK Whispers.

I really don´t think engaging in a full blown firefight would keep me alive for long so stealth is more important. I think.

The mini????? Heh Heh Heh. I dont think theres enough 7.62 for too many of those LOL. :what:

Suppressed AR SBR and Steyr Scout with 10x scope, plus bug-out-bag and whatever ammo I can carry.

Being on the HOA board for a housing development (150 homes), I'd probably insist on facilitating & organizing defense there.

Sounds good. Yeah a housing addition would probably need to formulate a defensive strategy.

One of those Limey's .22 LR CZs with a "moderator" attached loaded with SK Subsonic HPs. Take head shots on them when you can catch em singled out going to the can, looting stores, traveling to and from their new brothels, getting out of or into a vehicle. And, for a sidearm, my Sig 226 9mm and all four hi-caps loaded with Federal 115 JHPs.

I'll play...

Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 with 100 rounds on chargers in a bandolier and my 1911 with four loaded mags and an extra fifty rounds in reserve.

IF it happened right now, I would like to think my AK and my SIG 229 but in reality. I have way more 30-06 than I do 7.62 soooooooo I guess it would be the SIG and my Rem 700 BDL 30-06. I also have a Rem 870 short barrel/long tube that I have plenty of shells for. It makes a good urban tactical gun. Damn now I am going to have to stock up on ammo:D

Gosh, decisons, decisons....

Since I don't live in town I doubt I will be drafted but say the county militia calls me up.... for reasons of local security...?

Depends upon what we were doing out there. Since the OP said "defend the town" but did not say against what... it does make a bit of difference. Seems everybody has their own idea of what that means.

Without a good idea of the threat I would likely go with a either an AR-15or AR-10 and a few mags. Don't think I would bother with the pistola unless I had reason to.

When your community is maybe 300 or 400 people scattered around a ten-mile diameter circle, 70 or 80 miles from any great-big 6,000-population city, the best thing to do is stay home.

Yes, it will make things much easier for the invading foreign army, former
military units post TEOTWAWKI, roving MZBs or MZHRs (Mindless Zombie
Horseback Riders) to raid rural homesteads one by one.

If you don't resist, rest assured there will be a role for you as one of the
disarmed local serfs harvesting grain for your new overlord's biodiesel-
powered APC. You'll get just enough grain back to survive and little more.
After all your new master has another town to raid in the next county --and
the battle will be tough since they are resisting.

Or, pick up your garand and join your fellow citizens! Come on, old man, and
watch my six.

Mini 14 .223 = spray and pray to keep 'em at a safe distance.

Ruger M77 VT .308 4.5X14 scope = to reach out and touch someone.

SIG 226 9mm= just in case a few get through.

Cold Steel 11" Tanto & Baretta Mdl 21A= if they get kissin' close!

I'm pretty late getting to this thread, but...

My last rifle purchase took this very scenario in to consideration. It is a 16" AR carbine, heavy BBL, collapsable stock, flat top with a red dot reflex sight (soon to have fold down irons, too). I'd muster as many magazines as possible. Sidearm would be either my Sig 226 in .40 or my XD in .45.

My other consideration was my location in the world: Florida. If hurricane Katrina part II decided Florida is the place it wants to demolish, I wanted a light, maneuverable urban weapon with a lot of intimidation factor as well as wound capability out to 300 yards to protect my property/persons/neighborhood from looters and other wrong doers.

The AR fits that bill sportingly.

If it happened here I would think we would all go to the Armory in town and bust down the door to look for something a little more effective. Then its time to get to work of IEDs and so on. I knew training in chemistry, physics, geology and electronics would come to use sometime and would be a much better use of my time then deciding over which of the rifles I would take and so on.

In any case I take a rifle I am comfortable with. Probably either the Ar15, Fal or maybe the Lee Enfield. All will do the job pretty well.

Better late than never. I'd be carrying a Socom 16 so I can reach a little ways out, 870 strapped on top of my pack, entry style, and a Howdah black powder pistol. Two shots, one to stop the last guy, second, they're not takin me alive.

This is an ouotstanding post! I would go with my new 20" ar and as many 30 round USGI and pmags as I could carry on my person. Sidearm would be my G21 and 4 mags

Oh and my M98 Mauser and M1 Garand would be handed out to people I know.

I still don't get why there is such a desire to carry multiple long guns in multiple calibers. It's a better plan to carry gun A and the weight of guns B and C in ammo for A than to burden yourself with A, B, and C with relatively little ammo for any.

I guess I'm a little old fashioned. My rifle would be a M1 Garand w/ammo belt (80rds), 2 bandos (160rds) and a 12" bayonet , 45 auto w/5 mags, K-Bar, and pack.
And I'm good from 500yds to up close and personall!!!!

Thats why I would hope that there are veterans in your towns to make sure that people arent humping too much gear. Main rifle, pistol as backup, tactical vest or LBV/LBE web gear for ammo (4 to 6 mags depending on caliber), ballistic gear (if you have it) and hydration. Ranks should inspect the formations as well as utilizing the buddy concept thereby inspecting each others gear.

A lot of those sidearms are going to be ditched if people end up humping gear for more than a mile or two.
